Date: Saturday, May 19
Place: Atlantic Quarry, Schildberg Constructions off Iowa Hwy 83, Atlantic, IA
Time: 11:00AM

It is the first official club dive event of the season so get out your 7 mil, hooded vest, gloves, drysuit, etc., and join us at the Atlantic Quarry.

Jim and I made 2 dives in CB on Saturday morning. Neither of us had found the hole on our own from the shore, so as we geared up and enetred the water, I decided I would drop down and give it a try. We made our best guess to where I should drop, and down I went. It was cloudy so the lake vis was about 6 inches, still, not bad for the lake. At about 10 feet, I felt the coolness of the spring, so I knew I was close. Finally, the water cleared up, and I found the root of the log, shot my SMB, and ascended to confirm our dive plan.

First dive, I lead the way in on a stage bottle. There was a slight flow entering the cave, but once inside, it wasnt very noticeable at all. Vis inside was roughly 30-40 foot. We made our way back to the pit, and started our descent. We dropped down to confirm the axle was still there. After confirming it was , we ascended back up the line performing safety deep stops at 100 and 70 feet, and exited the cave at a nice slow pace. Max depth, 170 feet, run time 53 minutes.

Dive two, we decided to take the first jump, and come back to the main line, and just take it easy, checking out the cave, looking into the cave pockets and crevices, that are normally just swam past. Also found a dead catfish that has been in there for quite a while.

Despite the loss of my video camera, (http://www.sarind.com/proddetail.php?prod=SSC-HD Lost with the head strap. If someone happens to find it, please PM me) it was a great day, and 2 great dives.
