Hello all........I just stumbled across this site and thought I would post a message. I am from O'Fallon, MO, a suburb of St Louis. Have been diving since 2003, and just completed my Rescue certification this past July. I am looking forward to taking the Divemaster course next year. Would like to make some new diving buddies, talk diving, and get wet!
GO CARDS!

welcome to the board! i just joined a few days ago- it looks like we're the only ones here. just kidding, the gang will be along shortly. if anyone asks, tell them that you're in charge of the beer- the pizza will be along shortly.
i just finished my divemaster class this summer and it's looking like it might be a great way to turn the tables on local diving. wake up early, dm a class, and then saddle up for some diving, and if you're lucky, you'll get some gas money to boot.

Welcome aboard. Why in the world is our moderator rooting for the Astros? Must be a Cubbie fan. I guess the Cubs fans will be in hell if both the Cards and Sox make it to the World Series.

Beer!!!! I love to have a beer after diving. I was thinking about having one right now, but first I have to go for a run to keep my SAC rate down, so that I can do longer dives, which make the beer taste all that much sweeter. It's really a viscious cycle- dive, dry, drink, dive, drive, drink, dive, think, dry- try drinking three beers fast and saying that... it'll come with practice...

Wow guys.......thanks for the warm welcome!! I have never gotten this many responses on any other boards I have been on, so I am glad to be aboard. To answer your question, DeepDiverBob, I am with your neighbor down the street, Great American Diving Co. I really want to jump into this, so I hope to meet a lot of you to blow bubbles with. I would like to get some more bottom time, since I have not been diving much. The only places I have dove are at Quail Run quarry and Mermet Springs. I am working on getting all of my own equipment, have most of it, with the exception of a wetsuit, weights, and tank. Do it easy (Tony)...I'll most certainly bring the beer!! Well, thanks again for the warm welcome and I'm sure you'll see me all over this board!!

Rescue Diver,
The following planned dives of the Fun Diving Club, sponsored by The Dive Shop of St. Louis, are open to all who wish to come dive with us. E-mail me at deepblue@the-skull.com if you have any questions regarding arrangements.
Oct 21-23 - Bull Shoals Houseboat Trip, Bull Shoals AR. The flexibility of this trip allows you to arrive Friday in the early eve and get a couple Friday night dives in, arrive Friday night or Saturday early AM and dive for the remainder of the weekend, and occasionally a few folks will stay over Sunday night to get another couple night dives and a Monday morning dive before returning home from a 3-day weekend. For details, prices, and to make your reservation, contact Lisa at The Dive Shop, (314) 968-8099, 9836 Manchester, St. Louis, MO 63119.
Oct 29-30 – Mermet Springs www.mermetsprings.com/ , Mermet, IL. Saturday will include an underwater pumpkin carving contest with prizes—for details contact Lisa at The Dive Shop, (314) 968-8099, 9836 Manchester, St. Louis, MO 63119.
Nov 5-6 – White’s Drysuit Demo Days and Full Face Mask Trials. Mermet Springs www.mermetsprings.com , Mermet, IL. $10 per day in advance, or $15 upon entry. Quarry entry fee not included. Here is an opportunity to try diving in a White’s Dry Suit and/or a Full Face Mask. Find out what it feels like to be submerged in cold water without getting cold OR wet! For advance registration, contact Lisa at The Dive Shop, (314) 968-8099, 9836 Manchester, St. Louis, MO 63119.
There will be more later, but fewer in the winter. And I will be in Florida cave diving during the Thanksgiving and Xmas holidays, so the schedule will be sparse those 2 months.

I was born in Texas, moved to Illinois as a teen, but all my family have since moved back to Texas. I watched many an Astros game in the Astrodome. I remember Cesar Geranimo, Cesar Cedano and Larry Dierker. Let's not forget Rader, Metzger, Watson and Wynn. Does anyone know who I'm talking about? I have seen one NFL game in my life and it was the Houston Oilers play the Baltimore Colts in the 'dome. I'm sure this is more than you wanted to know.

Some things you just can't shake!
I was born in a suburb of Atlanta. 7 years here and I'm still a Braves fan. I don't know if "Some things you just can't shake!" is the right term. I'm thinking more like "glutton for punishment".

Go Astros!
Just how much did you pay the home plate umpire?
Throwing out a major player without so much as a chest thump pretty much invalidates everything that follows IMHO.
Though, given that, why the he double hockeysticks did Pujols run?

Not to mention the CH ump who called the last out at first... He was safe on replay. And that would have tied the game...

My whole earnings as a divemaster!

Who knows, it was way goofy. Even as an Astros fan, I didn't understand.

dunno
I just am glad the 'stros won. You should have seen me yesterday flipping between 3 games - ND/USC, Astros/Cards, Mich/Penn St
After 2 teams I cheered for choked at the end, I was waiting for Houston to do the same.
That ND game really hurt! I'm not a huge fan, but when all the media says how no one can touch USC, they really need to go down hard IMO. Unfortunately, it wasn't yesterday.
