Just got back from Vegas and DEMA about an hour ago it's 2:11 am. We had a great time. It was my first DEMA and I heard from others it was a good crowd. We had over 500 register at the Seasign booth for the free instructor's course. I actually got to the point where I believed I knew what I was talking about when describing Seasigns. :)
Hilton was ok nothing to brag about - I think I have seen it all now. On the pay for view listing they offered the Paris Hilton "home movies". The monorail is great but if you go take the most comfortable shoes you have. You can walk for miles! I did the Straosphere with the kids (23 yr olds) and did the roller coaster at 112 floors up - pretty cool. The Shark Reef at the Mandalay is good.

Well I'm still in Vegas. As I mentioned I have family here so it is a combined trip. For me the are two major hilights for this trip.
1. I got to meet a lot of people face to face. I had lunch with nauifins73 and scubajoe. I also got to put a face to Natasha, Tech Admin, Pete, and Mo2vation from SB. What a great bunch of people and I cannot express enough how valuable an experience it was to meet all of them.
2. My sister-in-law is Japanese. She works as a translator for JAL here in LV. As such she got free tickets to the Grand Sumo Championships at Mandalay Bay. While this is pretty much an exibition event, it is the first time in 25 years the Sumo Masters have been in the US. I'm so excited that I got to see this once in a lifetime event. I would never have believed how athletic these 300-600 pound guys are! Would you belive they can do splits?
My lack of posting lately is due to the trip. My lack of posting in the near future is going to be due to big changes here. There are two things coming down the pipe for us:
1. I've contracted (for the second time, first didn't work out well) for a dedicated server to run the board on. This means that the board will be much faster and much more stable.
2. VB has released a major upgrade to the board software. I'll be switching both to the dedicated sever and ther new software in the next couple of weeks. There will be a short downtime when I make the switch, though I will be doing a practice switch before hand to minimize it.

I just got home moments ago. I did have a good time at DEMA. Meeting up with james for lunch was fun too. Great guy! I really shouldn't go to DEMA.....too many cool toys that I need(want) and really cool places to go to. Becky was spot on about the Hilton...ok but overpriced and they charged extra for everything. Internet was 10.99 for 24 hours. The phone was a dollar a call for up to 30 minutes and 20 cents a minute after that. I didn't check out the porn like some one did so I don't know what it cost.
It was a productive trip for me. I am now an SSI Dive Control Specialist Instructor. I also took three more first aid instructor classes.

I'm embarrassed - the people are what made the trip!!! It was great to have lunch with James & Joe. I did meet Pete & Ted but didn't get a chance to see Natasha. I spent most of the time at the Seasign booth.
Joe is so right toys and more toys and lots of trips.
We saw several Sumo wrestlers when we were at the Mandalay Bay - I'll bet that was very impressive.
