Is there any interest in a winter get-togehter at Bonne Tere Mine?

I might be interested, but I need to start saving now. For me personally, after the first of the year would work best for me.

Another, less expensive alternative might be the New Year's day polar bear dive at Mermet.

Yea, but BTM would work for our less dry friends :).

...but another, less CHILLY alternative might be anything but! :)
Just kidding ya, Ken. But I do think climbing out of the dry suit in sub-zero temps might kind of suck... do they have a nice warm building with hot drinks?????
Although I'm usually not up for diving on New Years Day - too much carousing the night before.
I'd be interested in Bonne Terre - never been there, and I'm sure I'll be jonesing for a dive this winter.
I'd be interested in some details!

Last time I was there, it was about 190 bucks for 3 dives.

I'd like another shot at Bonne Terre too.
Mermet has heated changing rooms and office. If if remember correctly, they also cooked up a big pot of chili last year.

The very first time I was there, it was a three dive minimum. I think it depends on what time of year you go.
One thing to remember is you have to go on trail number one first. Before this dive, you have to go down and do a mask clear and aslo alt air source with your buddy. The bad part about this is they tell you go ahead and go down, and almost every time, someone has trouble, or isnt weighted right, and you sit on the bottom for 10 or 15 minutes waiting.
Also, these are guided tours, so you dont go down and swim around until you are down to 600 PSI, and then come back. I think all 3 of my dives last time I had to go back after 40 or 45 minutes with anywhere from 1200 to 1500 PSI left.

We've discussed going down some time to check out the mine but it would have to be after Denise finishes up her stint as a student teacher in late January. We've looked at Coz also but funding for that trip might be tough.

Everytime I start pricing out a BT winter trip, I find I can fly into FLL or somewhere for not much more money.

Ok, I inquired about what weekends they would have room for 8-10 in Janurary/Feburary and here is the response:
JAMES,
AS OF THIS TIME WE HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM FOR GROUPS THE SIZE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. MOST YEARS WE START GETTING BOOKED FULL BY THE END OF NOVEMBER FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY. FROM JANUARY 1ST TILL THE END OF APRIL WE RUN A 3 DIVE MINIMUM. THE THIRD WEEKEND IN APRIL IS SET ASIDE FOR A DOG DAYS RALLY. WE LOOK FORWARD TO DIVING WITH YOUR GROUP AGAIN.

Works for me now my only concern is what the roads will be like. Hoping the light colored woolly worms are correct. Jan 28th and 29th are the only dates that won't work for me.

any time before the 20th we wouldn't be able to make, but after that should be open.
