Penny Royal and Katrina

According to their web Site, due to Katrina, Penny Royal is down to 0 vis, and the water has risen 3 feet. Obviously, this doesnt compare to what the gulf coast is going through, but I found that interesting.

Where's Penny Royal? I googled it and got some place in Tasmania, little far for a dive trip.

It's in Hopkinsville KY. Quarry similar to Mermet (deep side and shallow side). I used to know the link, I'll post it if I find it.

normally, they have some of the best vis for a quarry. I hope it doesnt take too long for it to settle down again. I would like to visit there one more time this season.

I've dove there several times this year (2006). I know this thread is a little old, but for those that want an update - the vis in early Oct was 3 - 5'. In early Nov (yep, still diving) it was better 10-15' in the shallows, and excellent deep (91') & cold (42 deg) 25-30' vis.

Why wouldnt you be diving? There is a big group of us that dive year round. What are the winter hours for Penny Royal? I would like to go back there again.

The last weekend I was there was there last "regular" weekend. Now they require 6 or more divers to open. If you go again, let me know - I'll go!!!
