So where's everyone diving this weekend? Hopefully 3rd time is a charm, we will attempt to dive Quail Run Quarry near Malvern, IA on Saturday. Long story.

Bought my hubby two Ikelite DS-125 substrobes with arms, an early present to celebrate our anniversary. Am I a good wife or what? ;) He wants to try them out before our trip to Tortola, BVI (only 8 days to go, woo hoo!). It's our first trip there, can't wait. If he figures out the camera and strobes and is able to take some decent shots on the trip, I'll post some.

Will be at Mermet, participating in the Treasure Hunt to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Maybe I'll even win a new regulator . . . not that I really need another . . . not sure how many I own right now. LOL!

You have too much expendable income. I have 2 primaries (3 if you coun't my wife) and 4 secondaries (6 if you count my wife).

I'm thinking it's time for you (and mverick) to procreate so you have less money to spend on (and brag about) your equpment ;).

Actually, one is danas, one is my primary for my single tank, I have a back up reg for my single tank(not octo), and then I have my primary and back up for my doubles. They all have their purpose.

I have no "extras" either. A few are stage regs for longer and deeper dives. And if I did procreate some of the results might turn out to be divers and I would only need even more dive gear. Better stick with dogs and cats as my (and wife's) "children".

Unfortunately, we're not doing the night dive. We're going over in the morning. Have to give our gear time to dry and get it packed for our trip.

StSomewhere, too bad about your toe! Hope you are on the mend.

Sorry we'll miss you both, maybe next time.

Yea, I know her - I'd be happy to introduce you two. She's 450 lbs, toothless, one-eyed, and has a horrible case of acne. But I'm sure she'd be grateful for your company....

I'm sitting here laughing my butt off....

then my 12 year old daughter wants to see what I'm laughing at that I realize it's all fun and games until you have a 12 year old standing over your shoulder.

Sorry to be such a fun sponge!

Back to the original thread.

It was nice to meet Scubagal and hubby, that uw camera rig looks sweet, it even makes the friendly Quail Run blue gill look good! :) Have a great time at the BVI and please post pics when you get back!

It was also great to meet and dive with Steve. Thanks again for the help with the weight belt, I still have a LOT of work to do figuring out the new rig (obviously). At least I have the *amount* of weight finally figured out, now I just need to work out my trim and get a real weight belt (i.e. one with a real buckle that stays closed). Regardless of what I wind up with, I guarantee my new belt with be bright yellow. ;)

Oh, and someone remind me to get that Apex detuned a little. The 1600 psi freeflow from, well, you can figure out where!

It rained on us pretty good as we were leaving the night dive, getting the cars and trucks out of there was pretty much a Charlie Foxtrot. Especially Don's truck! I was the last car out and wasn't sure at one point if I was going to make it out of there, I was pretty much stuck for five minutes or so! :(

Wkndbum and Scubagal/hubby, on par you guys were better off skipping the night dive this time around. I'm still rinsing the muck off my gear.

wow.
i went diving yesterday with a reefraf. we were at 40 feet down and heading back to the rope when all of a sudden my weight belt falls off. i shot to the top like a rocket. well its agood thing my buddy was next to me so i grabed on to him and i deflated and was kicking down to slow my ascent while he deflated.
we went from 40ft-0ft in 2.seconds. he went down and got my weights and we ended the dive with a after dive breefring. he said i did every thing by the book and i didnt panic. so im happy.

but the only thing is ive had a headacke since last night but im not showing and sign of dcs.

but the only thing is ive had a headacke since last night but im not showing and sign of dcs.Of course you have a headache - that always follows a diving "incident", if nothing else it results from wives thumping you upside the head saying, "I told you to be careful down there..." :D

Actually, the headache could be a lot of things, including barotrauma to your sinuses, so watch for blood or dizziness and if the symptoms don't dissipate in a day or so, call DAN or your primary MD for a consult.

How about starting a "What would you have done" incident thread to discuss the options for this little calamity? There aren't many good choices, but I'd be interested in what the group has to say about how we handled things and what could be done to help avoid/better respond to this the next time. Post as many of the details about the dive as you can remember and a download from your computer, if it will do that and let the gallery have at us - maybe we all can learn something.

Every day: an adventure. ;)

I've been hearing a lot of that myself lately.
I would have held onto you, Steven. A guy your size is a pretty immovable object.:p
Seriously, since there apparently was nothing to grab hold of, I don't see how they could have handled it any better.
