Looks like Haigh Quarry for me, this weekend. Time to do some skills work as I gear up for a class this Fall - and see if I can finally find that invisible paddle fish. I don't know yet if I'll be down there Saturday or Sunday, but with the Chicago Air & Water Show going on in my front yard this weekend, I might make it both days. :D

Gas prices have pretty much grounded me for this weekend.

Diving Sat & Sun with Straits Scuba... I'll have to post a review.

Steve - what class are you taking this fall? How's the knee situation coming?

After spening 3 weekends working classes and another in the dark, I'm doing nothing but relaxing this weekend.

Steve - what class are you taking this fall? How's the knee situation coming?Hnnn - the Straits - I never did like you much...:D

The knee is vastly improved, thank you for asking. I started taking these injections of some weird goop (rooster combs or toad tongues, I don't much know and even less care) in the knees a few weeks ago and it has made a world of difference. I'm climbing stairs and ladders and feeling pretty dad-burned spry for an old fart. At this rate, all I have to do is re-learn how to dive again and I'll be all set! You're going to laugh, but the class this Fall is...PADI OWSI - yeah, me who was never going to spoil a good thing by making work out of it. Well, I may have been hornswoggled and lassoed into it, but we do have a plan and it does involve world domination. sshhhh! Don't tell anyone.

Say Hello to Larry and, especially, the Eber Ward for me - I promised Larry I'd get up there this year but with the ongoing soap opera that is my knees I've fallen behind on my diving and the EW is one of my all-time favorite sweethearts. Have a nice trip and tell us all about it when you get back. (Doing the groovy weather dance...)

i might be up of a dive sat afternoon.I'm planning on a day of semi-leisurely skills sessions - I've been mostly out of the water with some knee problems and need to work on the fundamentals a bit. I'm a mostly technical diver with serious Hogarthian proclivities, so there'll be lots of mask drills, S-drills, gas switches, valve drills, bouyancy work, bag shooting, etc., plus I've got to put some spit polish on the whole list of PADI skills before I start an IDC in October. You're welcome to join the party, such as it is, but we're not going to be doing a lot of "fun" diving.

Will be at Rolla helping with a couple OW classes this weekend.

But last weekend attended the MO NSS-CDS Cave Diving Workshop and then dived Cannonball Cave Sunday with local buddies and most of the N Florida CDS Board of Directors. A wonderful time was had by all.

I appreciate the groovy weather dance - you'll have to teach me that one next time I see ya - I'm imagining you dancing "Elaine"-style - ;)

I'll tell Larry & the Eber Ward that you say howdy - Larry seems like a really nice guy. There was a bit of a fustercluck with the schedule this weekend but we worked it out.

So... you're becoming an instructor! This from the guy who said, and correct me if I'm misremembering this, that he didn't like making his fun into work? Yes, you may have been hornswaggled. I hope you like babysitting at 20' in a quarry! I don't quite understand how this will help you achieve your evil goal of world domination, however...

I'm very happy to hear that the eye of newt is helping your knee situation.

BTW did I tell you that I just completed my TDI Adv Nitrox/Deco class? I am now officially a fledgling tech diver, and I must say I do look good in doubles. We're going to do the St. Albans on Labor Day - really looking forward to it!

The St. Alban's is a nice little wooden wreck (my favorite kind) and a good "graduation" dive, you'll like it.

Thank you, thank you very much. <strutting by...>

The wreck sounds like lots o' fun. So I finally get to see just how narc'd I actually get at 160' when I stay for more than 1 minute...

Hey - our rowdy little Loves Park Scuba group is going to be up at Wazee again the weekend of 9/10. Come on up if you can!

I'd say I'd wander over to BRF if we get blown out, but there really isn't any easy way to do that cross-state shuffle in Wisconsin and I need to be in Kankakee again on Sunday...have fun!

I will be at Pearl Lake Saturday. Accompanying some Nitrox students in the morning and probably taking out the shop's Sea-Doo scooters for a little fun. Then in the afternoon, I will be doing my open water presentation for my AI class. I am close to getting that wrapped up.

Sunday, I work at the shop! :D (I haven't been there long enough to call it work!)

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Safe Diving to All!

Julie

Hmmm......Straits of Mac sounds like the place to be!

Hi Julie -

What was the name of the shop you work for again? I remember talking to an instructor from your shop that day I ran into you at Pearl, and I'm having a brain cramp when it comes to his name and the name of your shop.

(And you guys have scooters, huh? Hmmmm - when are you going to be at Pearl again?)

So - you're becoming an AI? Congrats! Are you going to go on to become an OWSI too?

Well, say hi to the school bus for me ;)

I'll post a trip review when we get back.

Hasta luego,
Carla
