Yet another outage...

Well, we had a storm Saturday afternoon and just now got power back. Sorry for the outage. Once my contract is up with CBS I hope to switch over to a dedicated server somwhere with generators!

This is twice in 2 years I've been without power for multiple days...I think that AmerenUE would be better named AmerenNoE....people get power back faster after hurricanes!

Welcome back - I was needing a dose of Midwest Diving. :) I understand the outage thing - we were out one Jan for 11 days, but we are way out in the country.

Lets make up for lost time everyone. :)

Well I'm a city boy so 50+ hours without power seems a little third world to me....

I dont know what your talking about. I was in the third world country for a week, and we only lost power for a total of maybe 30 minutes or so.

Rub it in...before I moved here I had only lost power for more than a couple of hours once in my life, it was an ice storm in 1976. I've been through 2 hurricanes, had a torndao pass between my house and my next door neighbors, etc without long outages.

Yet in 2 years I have had to replace my fridge/freezer contents twice due to "thunderstorms". AmerenUE needs to join the 21's century....

Here's the funny part of the story...

When I got to work this morning (where there was power) I had an email from my PHB (think dilbert) complaining that the companies web server was down. Keep in mind I'm paid to be a programmer, not a SysAdmin. He was on vacation and upset he couldn't hit the website.

Well he came home today to find a tree sitting on his garage...that'll teach him to gripe at me for not having the company website up when there is no power!
