Just curious how your air consumption is. I was surprised on this last trip I came up from one dive with 2000 psi on a 3000 psi fill. I only used 1500 one time and the rest was 1250 or less. My dives were between 80 and 40 feet.

I used to think I was an "AirHog" until "TheSkull" taught me to slow down. I think I do pretty good now.

most bad air consumption iscaused by either bad bouyancy control, or swimming too fast. If you dont have your bouyancy down, then you are constantly puting air in to your BC, and then letting it out, or dry suit. Swimming to fast makes you work harder, therefor you are breathing heavier/ Once both problems are addressed, then you will be amazed at how much better your air consuption will be. Also, women almost always use less air then guys do.

Like most things, it depends.
Usually when diving with our group in Cozumel or Roatan, I will swim all over the reef looking and exploring and not care at all how much air I use since the DM will end the dive long before I'm low on air. One of our guys always brags about how much air he has left and I tell him to see if he can get a refund.
Diving when I'm in control of the time is a different story and I will swim a lot slower and conservatively in order to maximize my bottom time.

I use the "XALER" method, it really helps though I have a ways to go before my gas consumption would be anything you'd call good.
