Okay, yesterday was my first time diving Penny Royal. The web site says 0-80 foot vis at depth. I agree that is a little vague. I think what they are talking about is vertical visibility. I say that because when I was down 70 foot, I could look up and easily see the ripples on the surface. Even horizontal vis wasnt bad at all at depth. There was pockets of bad vis, not really sure what that was from, but you would be out of it as quickly as you got into it. The shallow side had many attractions like the scuba bus, a helicopter, fridge, firetruck, a number of sunken boats, among other odds and ends. The vis in the shallow end went away quickly, due to the classes that was going on there. But even when that vis was bad, drop down over the ledge, and you had at least 30-40 foot vis waiting for you. It was a great time(except on the last dive when my dry suit completly flooded  ), and I am looking forward to going back there again.

On sunday, on the way back home I stopped and dove with Ken at Mermet. We had 2 really cool dives, one being on the wall, and the other was on the circuit. I dont know what it was like there Saturday, but it was crowded on Sunday, and for the most part, vis wasnt too bad all. Could easily see from one end of the box car to the other end. Of course, you knew when you was on the heels of an OW class, because you could see the silt cloud rising up behind them. And on the circuit, you had to watch out for students flying down the line at damn near super sonic speeds. Makes me wonder what organization teaches that.

Any way, it was a great weekend for me, and also concludes my quarry diving for a few weeks. I have a few pool sessions this week for AI class, and then next Saturday I am off to Roatan.
