Got tired of cold fingers. So I figured I'd try dry gloves.
Bought a set of Bayonet style Viking dry gloves. Wanted the locked on units. I was a little worried about the others with just a slide on O-ring.
Got them and they came with Smurf Blue gloves, some military chemical gloves and another set of gloves. All three gloves seemed easy to puncture. When I looked at the gloves I had some PVC gloves that were tougher. So, I figured I'd try those instead.
Putting glove rings on suit. Pretty easy. Slide ring inside sleeve arm and slide Bayonet on ouside of seal. You keep the wrist seals with these. Shove them in with your fingers. Seems to easy. One problem. You need to know where your thumb will be as you want the bayonet part in between your thumb spot. So you can put them on yourself.
Putting rings on gloves. I had to do this a little different then in the pamphlet. As gloves have a cotton lining inside them. As do the Smurf's. So, slide bayone over glove and ring inside glove. Align so bayonet stub is pointing up at your thumb. And cram rings inside each other. I also, CUT the extra gauntlet material inside the gloves so it would be easier to put gloves on. Worked well.
Tried first without liners. Pretty sweet. Locking the gloves to the suit is kinda a pain. But, it's locked. Would be good for contaminated use. A little chilly in 45 degree water but better then my 3mm I used to use... LOL...
With Liners. Man were they warm. Wow.... Not as much feel but sweet. One thing. I need to cut about 3 in off my arms now. As with the gloves on they extend out to far. With 3 in cut off. It would fit perfect. My arms overlap where my seals cover my arms. Making it protect the latex. But for the dry gloves. It makes the gloves stick out a little to far.
I did flood them with the liners. It got a little hung up in the bayonett. And flooded instantly when I got off the boat. Still made the dive. But like have 3mm gloves again... LOL... And, my arm got wet. Still not bad though.. If the bayonetts seem jamned at all. They'll flood. They are already tough to put on. But if they are really stuck. You got a problem...
Oh, and I like the gloves I can get a lot better then the others. These are tougher and will stand up to wrecks better then the smurfs... But, they ain't kevlar either. So, with a rusty wreck I wanted all the help I could get..
Would I buy them again. For contaminated use. Yes. For my drysuit that I dive all the time. I'd like to try the Bare style I think. Or the Rock Lock. These are kinda a pain to put on. And I'm a little woried about breaking the camlocks. But for contaminated use. Yea, since they can't come off without you unlocking them..
