I had been wanting a small scooter for wrecks. And thought the X-scooter might be worth a try so I bought one of the demo's. I got the Echo small body.

Scooter is nicely made. Aluminum housing that's got a nice finish on it. Although my demo was scratched up. But, I knew that when I bought it. One water entry point at the prop shaft. One large O ring where the body and motor fit together.

Internal Battery is O ring sealed inside the unit. So, even if it floods the battery should be OK. And the Motor is supposed to be OK in the event of a flood also.

Size fit's in a 8in tank rack. Easy to take on a boat. Easy to drop off a boat. Run time. I ran around 60min and it was still running. VERY stable in the water. Yet, VERY manuverable. From it's smaller size. Pulled me and another diver who was videoing at a pretty good speed also. No problem. Easy to adjust speeds also.

Getting back on the boat was a little of a pain at 38lbs. But, better then a 70lb Gavin or Silent Sub. Which are both nice units too. I just didn't want the size and weight.

Customer service. Outstanding. DHL lost the rear section of my scooter. X-scooter sent me another section to make my trip with. No charge. While DHL was trying to find the lost rear section.

I have also run it on the surface when I was out searchin and got away from the boat. Made my stop and to the surface. Found the boat. OK signal. And motored back to the boat. Really sweet..

Ran it on some lakes too. One with horrible vis. Then, it's kinda useless other then to get you out there and back...

One thing, I bought to cruise around bottom ripped up wrecks. Away from the wreck where others rarely go. Works well for this. Found an old 10ft anchor. Some other ship parts nobody had seen. I also bought it to speed around a wreck to see where I wanted to go in at. Nice for that too.. Find your spot. Park scooter and hook line to it. And in you go. Most wrecks I've been on you can't scooter through them. So, not really an option for that. But, it's small size makes it possible if you dive Spiegal or something like the Orinousky. But only in parts..

Battery charger is a work of art also. Fan cooled.

Really sweet scoot.

Just how did you manage getting that aboard Enterprise....?

Did they drop a ring into the water to clip to, or did you haul it up the ladder with your tanks on?

First day I grabbed the strap on the nose. And lifted it up the ladder with me. Tanks on me and all. Set it on the deck while I climbed the rest of the way up. In rough sea's. That would be a miracle to do.

Second day, they actually came down the ladder and grabbed it by the strap and lifted it up before me.

Next time. I'll have a strap with a hook. Hook it on and pull it up. I'm worried about it banging around while lifting it up. But, if it was rough. Probably easier that way then pulling it up the ladder... LOL It has a real big ring in the nose just for this reason too.

It wasn't that bad to bring up with me. The only reason I bought a scooter was because they got the weight down to 38lbs or so. 70lb gavin or SS wasn't going to happen...LOL..

You crack me up.... LOL...

One other thing. It makes you real lazy underwater. Instead of a fin kick. I'd just pull the trigger a little.. Has a slow start circuit. So it's not full blast when you pull the trigger..

Man, my spelling stinks...LOL

Does anyone make a quality scooter that would fit into a standard 7-1/4" tank rack?

Yes. The X-Scooter does fit into the standard 7 1/4" rack. I've set mine in them on a few different occasions. The tank holders work well to hold the scooterl.
