I started my A.I. class last night. Back to the book work, back to the grind. This shouldnt take near as long as my DMC did.

Careful, Bob, you're heading down the path toward the dark side. If you don't proceed carefully you'll end up an Instructor, and then you'll never get to make fun dives again. Sure I'm exaggerating, but not alot. I've seen the sad tale play out too many times.

Now this part is true. But the funny thing is, when sitting around the Budget Deluxe with a class, while everybody else is drinking their beer, and I'm drinking my water or Gatorade, you would be surprised to know how many compliments I get for being a "good DM" and setting a good example for the class.

Or it might be all the darned PADI paperwork that goes with the teaching that leads to the drinking...

From time to time we need to remember that PADI is not the only game in town. I took an SSI class over the winter, and when I flashed that card at my LDS they nearly plotzed. After a prolonged beating with rubber hoses, I also admitted that I had been certified at the "Y". I think that, according to PADI rules, I will no longer be provided with little umbrellas for my Mai Tais.

I have decided to take a step back, and withdraw from the AI class. Too many things going on, and I can not give the time needed to do this class.

You've been getting provided with the umbrellas by PADI? I've been paying fees for mine! But at least I have an Umbrella Mai Tai drinker specialty card.

No hurry, dude. It'll wait. Do it on your schedule and your terms. I've been pushing mine off for almost 2 years now. I MAY get around to it this Winter, when the diving slows down just a little.

You've met my husband, haven't you?

He's been starting to complain lately about not being able to make any quality dives because he's been teaching so much - I've been waiting for this...

Now maybe I can get my dive buddy back - at least when he's not gigging with his band.... hmmm.... wait, what am I thinking...

WF seeking dive buddy.... :)
