Any one have a tank or two that you would sell. My equipment budget and the wifes ability to put up with me putting out so much cash is getting thin.
Thanks,
Dan

You might talk with MgicTwnger. He's had some sucess with buying tanks off of EBay.
Personally, I've looked and looked, and I've never found a deal I liked used. It has always seemed to me that by the time you pay shipping, you're so close in price to a new tank with a new vis and hydro that it's just not woth the effort.

I picked up an aluminum 80 and a SeaQuest BC at a yard sale last year for $25. I considered the BC non-useful to me, wrong size and very basic, but I hung on to it to use as a loaner. It is in good working condition, I even replaced the old power inflator with a new one. The tank is a Luxfer Manufactured in '98, and I had to get a Hydro done on it. If you buy a used tank, be sure to replace the burst disk and O rings on it before you use it. I learned the hard way and had to cancel a dive.(the threads on the burst disk started leaking air). Also the O-rings in the on/off valve started leaking while I was in Florida so I used rentals the whole time I was down there. If I ever purchase a used tank again I would probaly just go ahead and buy a whole new valve for it. I agree with James buy a new Tank unless you stumble upon a "deal" like I did. I guess all together I have about $70 bucks invested in my aluminum 80. I am not sure what they get for one at a dive shop. Also be aware of the Manufacture date, there are some tanks that have been recalled and dive shops will not fill them. I see a lot of these on Ebay.

I bought an AL80 a few years ago on eBay, no problem. Lately I've been looking for steel 121's with no luck. As with buying anything on eBay, caveat emptor.

Sometimes the new ones that are a year old are sold $15 or $20 less at the end of the season. That's how I bought two of mine. The other two I bought as a package with a reg, bc, spear gun, knife and flag for $350. I they both needed hydro's though and one had a J valve that I had removed.
Good luck!

Give this guy a buzz. scubacloseout@hotmail.com He has quoted me $75 shipped for a AL80. This is a dive shop that is going out of bussiness. Most of his tanks have a year or two on the hydro and the same for VIP. He has a bunch of other dive goodies as well. If you are a Scubaboarder that is where I found him.

I talked to him yesterday and he was about out of AL80's. Of course at $75 a piece shipped I can see why. I over nighted him my MO so I knew I was going to get two. Wasn't what I really wanted but they will do till I can afford what I want...E7-80.
I think the steels went quick, what few that he had.

Anybody got delivery or heard back from this guy??? I sent the MO and it was signed for by a different person and I have had no reply to two of my emails this week. I guess I wouldn't think twice about it but the name that he told me to put on the MO was different from his so I have three names. Also doing a search on the address comes up with another name.

After almost a month of aggrevation it looks like I am actually going to get my tanks. I got one yesterday and all looks well with it.
For those that haven't gotten their gear yet, Kevin fell and broke his tail bone. Then he had a friend ship out some of the gear and he took them to UPS instead of DHL. UPS didn't know what to do with them (?) so they sat for a week or better. After almost two weeks of me complaining he finally figured out what happened.
In the mean time he kept telling me that they had been shipped and that he talked to DHL and their online tracking was off and I should be getting my tanks. DHL was telling me that they were never picked up, which was right. On the first two DHL shipping notices it states that the weight was 26lbs(?) When I questioned Kevin about this his kept telling me that they were AL80's. The new weight shows 36.
For my waiting he said that he opened up one of the boxes and put in a bunch of extras for all my trouble. Well with both boxes weighing the same he didn't put anything in the one that is still in transit either. So if he tells you something, take it with a grain of salt and stay after him. So far I am the only one that I know of that has gotten their gear.
On a positive note, the tank was worth the money.
