a buddy and i have full gear for the weekend and were wondering if there is anywhere that we can just walk out into lake michigan at... i understand it wont be that special near shore... but i would still enjoy it. thanks in advance

IIRC it's illegal to shore dive Lake MI from Chicago.

You can dive the Morley off the beach in Evanston. It is only 20 feet but you can swim out to the wreck.
