My wife and I went to Tulsa, OK this weekend with our son. We got there on Saturday, and went to the Gilcrese Museum, to see a display on Machu Pichu. The display was OK, but you needed a magnifying glass to read the signs for the displays...Very irritating! The real treasure in that museum is in the western art. I could have spent the whole day just looking at some of the most famous original American art. It was truely amazing, and blew away the Machu Pichu exibit in my mind.

Sunday, we woke up and got to the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks. Neat enough place, and as close as I can get to sea life right now. The shark walk through was extremely dissappointing. First, it was just a big cement floored pool, that had a plexi glass tunnel going through it. I would think they could at least invest in some sand for the bottom of that tank! Would have made it look much better. Second, there were maybe 7 fish total in that tank. Very boring! If you have ever been to the Omaha zoo, then you will know why I was dissappointed with this exhibit. There were some neat things there, we got to touch rays, starfish, lobster shells (ones that had been molted) and finally see some seahorses :) They had a lot of concave glass tanks that magnified things, and make your head hurt to look too long. There were a lot of fish (especially the paddlefish) that had sores/callouses from bumping into the sides of the tank, which made me feel bad they had to be cooped up. Another thing that bothered me was the large coral reef tank. All of the Blue Tangs looked like they had some sort of scale problem from being in captivity. Also, they had lost a lot of their color. Very sad to see. I'm sure it is very educational to those who have never dove before, and they probably wouldn't notice the things that gave me a bad feeling.

All in all it was a good trip, after all, I got to spend some quality time with my son which was more important than anything else. He wants to go somewhere else next weekend, any ideas? Something with in 4 hours of KC.
