May I suggest that.....YOU DON'T HAVE "PERCH" UNDER MY NAME!
Wassup with this perch thing? Is this something I haven't yet read about?
Was I a guppy, then a minnow, now a perch? When will I be a shark? Huh? I wanna be a shark?
Perch?
Have a nice day!

LOL...there's an old thread here asking for suggestions for user levels. It didn't get much attention. So today I kinda came up with my own midwest fish levels. It goes:
Minnow: 0-29 posts
Perch: 30-99 posts
Catfish: 100-499 posts
Trout: 500-999 posts
Paddlefish: 1000+ posts
Don't care for perch eh? There are 2 alternatives for ya:
1. Post more
2. Come up with a better system
:):):)

BTW the "old" thread is a sticky at the top of this forum:

Yep. I remember that thread. I just didn't recall anything since then, and all of a sudden I'M A PERCH!
Hey, why is DeepDiverBob a DiveMaster and not a catfish? Huh? Huh?
Isn't perch higher on the food chain than DiveMaster? Yep that must be it!

Well, obviously, perch eat DM's for lunch, but Bob can set his own title so he must enjoy the experience....

Do we NEED rewards for how many posts have been made?
What's wrong with just saying something when you have something to say?

Easy for you to say, you're a CATFISH! I think it's 'cute' and at least it uses Midwest fish. Meanwhile, I'm trying to get past minnow by taking James advice and posting more. lol

I stand corrected.
And I love catfish--to swim with, and to eat!

Actually that is one thing I try to avoid. Other than making a first post I don't try to limit things based on post counts. The title thing is just a software feature and I didn't much care for Junior Member, etc.

No, I think what he is saying is you have to make a first post to the board to be a fully functional member. After that, the board software is going to count your posts and give you a "status" title whether we like it or not.
So, after making the first post to the board as a member, post as frequently or infrequently as you like, but don't just throw stuff up here to get a higher "status" because higher status doesn't earn you squat.
Did I about get it, James?

. . . and what do I get if I make enough posts to reach the "Shark" status? :)

I personally get a chuckle with the minnow title next to Wayne2241's avator. :0812: :0812: :0812:

Yep. I guess I could get rid of the "status" titles by setting them all to be the same.
And as the TOS says:
"Free" or "Junk" posts are (repeated) posts that do not add to the overall positive content in threads, or are postings solely for the purpose of boosting your post count. A good example of this can be found in threads asking for information on a topic for which you have no answer and does not inquire directly (by name) of you to answer. If you were to reply to this thread by saying, "Nope, I have no information" (ETC), this is a junk post. There is no reason to comment because your silence is as good as saying you do not have any information to contribute. If they are asking you personally (by name) though, please do feel free to reply regardless of whether you have the answer or not. Many people judge member's credibility based on post count, so we ask that you obtain your post count legitimately. Furthermore, free/junk posts add up over time and waste server space and bandwidth unnecessarily. Threads announcing your post count are considered free posting.

Dude! Why did you revive this ancient and irrelevant topic just to take a shot at me?
. . . and what would I do with a life if I did get one? LOL

I am still trying to figure out how I missed the opportunity to take a shot the last time around.
And to answer the first question last, I like to revisit some of the older conversations, especially those from the very early days of the board. We have had a lot of members join since then, and maybe they might see something that they can chime in on and give us more infor or details on.
