ls Any one interested in going to Quail run in around 3 weeks. i will get my dive computer/ console next week, with that i will be ready to dive. I dont have a set in stone date yet. I will have to be at work by 4:00 pm so as long as i am able to leave the quarry by 2:00 i will be good. Let me know, so we may get some thing set up. Who knows i may even buy lunch for us.
Thanks,
Dan

Where is Quail Run? I may be interested if it's not a long trip.

Rolla, MO. It's about 4.5 hours for you and not really worth the trip. I might be able to get to Rolla, next Saturday (25th) but it would be in the afternoon which doesn't seem to work with your schedule, Dan.

and that doesnt include the 2 hour road construction you will get stuck in going down I-44.
Quail Run is very popular with the local dive shops to do their clases there, because it is close to them, and also isnt very deep. It is a great place to train, and have classes. I went there when I first started diving my doubles, and when my dry suit comes in, I will be diving there again to get use to it. But for "fun" dives, it is quite a stretch, because due to the classes that are there, vis is usually down to a couple of feet, and sometimes less. There isnt a whole lot to see there either. A ski boat, a jon boat and a jet ski are probably the biggest "attractions", along with other little pieces of junk that is found through out the quarry.

Good place to find spare weights . . . and even whole weight belts . . . if you don't mind plunging your hand down into the gooey muck!

Open water students tend to loose weights a lot :D.

I found a 2 pound weight at 90 foot down at table rock this weekend.

Yep. Students and instructors dive there, too.
Anywhere there is diving, especially if there is also low visibility, you will find weights and weight pouches. The more training dives that go on, the more weights to be found. The amazing thing is how many divers can lose a pouch--half their weights--and not notice til the dive is over . . . can you say, "overweighted"?
