Hey there everyone! My name is Bill and I live in Kansas City, MO and certified last year down at Table Rock Lake through KC Dive Shop.

It seems like I am joining a lot of forums these days as I jump on and off of Scubaboard.com!! But I like it as I meet new people and learn a lot of information on diving!

I am planning on going to Beaver in July and either Beaver or Table Rock in August for my AOW cert.

Hi Bill. Glad to have you. Not near as many people over here as on the Scubaboard but all good folks. Make yourself at home. steve

And we won't answer every question on gear with, "Have you tried a backplate and wing?" LOL!!

Welcome. Come diving with us some time. I do Table Rock often.

Greetings Bill,
Welcome to MidwestDive. I'll be at Table Rock this July taking my AOW. I might end up moving down your way (St. Joe) if my wife gets transferred there. How's the diving near there?

Hi Bill
Welcome to MidW Dive. I certified at the Dive Shop also - who was your Instr? I had Bruce for class and Paul for OW.

Just my 2 cents but I prefer Beaver over Table Rock.

Thanks for all the wonderful replies!

I took classes last Spring at the Dive Shop. Bruce was my instructor and Debbie Wiedemann was my OW instructor. Bruce has since moved to Florida; what a crying shame!!

I would dive at Table Rock again, but when I was there, the visibility was horrible at less than 6 feet. Since this was the case, we hovered around 30 feet and didn't move far. I am interested in checking out Beaver Lake as well as Mermet Springs.

On gear, I am slowly accumulating equipment. I need to get a slate for my AOW class. I like the ones with the compass on it. Any suggestions?

Well, I am probably moving off of the subject of this thread!

No worries, Bill, we're pretty loose about staying on-topic around here. My best suggestion would be to get a good quality Suunto compass (SK-7) either for your wrist or your console, and keep the slate separate. A simple slate that will fit in your pocket or mount on your wrist will do ya.

Oops! Bob, I just answered your question in another thread about Table Rock Cleanups with, "you should have looked at my fun-dive club thread".

Sorry.
