I know I will be showing my computer ignorance by asking this question...but here goes. I have tried to create my own avatar, but I can't seem to download it and make it small enough without losing it's clarity. It ends up looking really muddled. For those of you who have done this, how should I go about it?

Denise,
What are you using to reduce the image?

We have HP Photo Image that we use for scanning and/or printing pictures and such. I saved the image from paint and then used the HP stuff to change the size. I then went back to paint and tried to clean up the image that way, but no such luck. I know it's not very sophisticated, but I figured it was worth a try.

Denise-
In Paint
1. go to Image
2. click on Stretch and Skew
3. In Stretch change the Horizontal and Vertical - ( you will have to play with the % maybe start with 40%)
4. Then OK
If this doesn't work email it to me and I will have my son fix it for you - he did mine. :)

I'm not sure about HP's software, but you'll need to reduce it with somthing that will anti-alias the reduction. Trying not to get too technical, but you are cramming a lot of data into a small space. You need software that will "average" pixels out to come up with a new color that is a combination of all the removed pixels.

Thanks Becky and James,
I tried the paint method and it seemed to work, (sorry James but it seemed the easier route :) ). It looks much better. You all are so helpful!!!
