I think that is where a friend of mine did his Ice Diver class.
Congrats to your son, by the way.

Two of the guys in my IDC/IE were from Blue Water Divers on West Lake Okoboji as well as one Staff Inst. and one Staff Inst. candidate (part owners of the dive shop). They had some video of a couple of dives and told us about the ice diving. It sounds like a real nice place with amazing vis 30'-50' in summer to close to 100' under the ice. They build a pretty good size shed on the ice complete with benches, heater and a ladder for exits. They have a boat and a pier right at the shop. Too bad it's most of two states away.

We dove two different places. The first one on Sat. was off a dock at a place called Village West. Vis. was a good 25ft+ and the water Temp. was 48 Deg. A lot of them came out of the water purple. Not to much to see there though.
The second Day Sun. we dove at a place called The Inn. Was a lot warmer both in the water and out. Vis. was still 25ft+ and the water temp. was 54 deg. There are two water inlet pipes to dive there and one of the docks has a nice rock pile just off the end of it that was holding a lot of fish. Just wish I had taken my camera along.
