If you need air fills at Mermet, and you are diving doubles, do you have to pay for 2 air fills? It makes sense to me that you would, but then again, not everything is always as simple as it seems.

Air fills at Mermet are $ 5.00 per tank. H-tanks for serious divers cost more:D

I've asked Chris about diving his H-tanks...he doesnt think my BC has enough lift for it.

Yes, a doubles fill costs double, as it does almost everywhere.

And what is an H-tank?

H-Tank - My best guess is slang for those High Pressure (4500-6000psi) storage tanks we bank our air in at the shop. I really do not know the exact definition, but that is what I am refering to.

NOW the joke makes sense! And how 'bout those H-Tanks they have down at Vortex Springs? The sausage-shaped ones that used to be submarine balast tanks? What kind of lift would you need to dive one of those suckers?

My ScubaPro Classic is just a bit small even with 60 lbs of lift.

Now this is an area where an inventor could make some money... a true market gap.

I think a custom titanium back plate with a Zodiac CRRC bolted to it should work.

:D

Expensive . . . inconvenient . . . inherently dangerous . . . I think an inventor already covered this with the rebreather! LOL.

A few of us diver types have had a few laughs recently at work. We got a new laser cutter and hooked up to it are tanks as tall as I am and three times as big around. They are labelled OXYGEN and NITROGEN. Picturing ourselves with those on our backs, we'd need to be loaded on a cart, pushed to the edge, dumped in, then left for about 4 days!

If you posed in front of the tank wearing your BC and mask, and were careful about the angle you could get a good photo out of it.
