Ok, well looks like my long wait for a price from my LDS was actually worth it...

Sorry to hijack here, but I am also interested, and would like to find a place where I can get a custom made suit. Am I right in assuming that only DUI will do this? Also, James, what is your price range? $300 more than what?

I had a price of $965 for this whole package:

I could get into a Bare for similar, but I would then have to pay extra for things like a pocket, suspenders, etc.

I did my dry suit cert in a Whites. I cant put my finger on why, but I just didnt feel comfortable in it. I wish I could explain why. I had to call my last dive in it, just because something just wasnt right.
I dont know anything at all about Bare.

James,
The Dive Shop of St. Louis is a White's dealer, and most likely would extend the courtesy of a professional discount to you as a "local" dive pro. I have received such from a couple of the local shops since joining the pro ranks when I wanted a brand that my LDS did not carry. Make sure you make this request of the LDS owner, which in the case of The Dive Shop is Lisa.
White's does indeed make custom dry suits--but they are quite a bit more expensive, as they are from most manufacturers.

Another great suit and very good value for the money. You know how to pick 'em my man!

p.s. Glen at Mermet Springs is a DUI dealer even though not listed on the DUI website. He will work with you as long as your shop is not also a DUI dealer--he's careful about not competing with local dive shops.

Most dry suit manufactures will customize their suits. Your LDS will measure you, much like a taylor would, and the manufacturer produces the suit to spec. It costs, but can be worth it if you're like me, and can't find an off-the-shelf suit that fits well.
My own suit is a USIA shell, which is what my LDS carries. It's a brand that you don't see too much, since they primarily sell to the military.
