Hi,

Would it be possible to setup a special calendar which allows us to post dives that are being planned, and for others to sign up to them and get more diving. I've been trying unsuccessfully to get in touch with a group of divers that I could join around the St Louis area, and I'd like to be able to see more options on what dives are available.

Thank you,
Session

We have separate forums for just about all the local diving destinations. Usually, when someone is going to be at one of the locations, they post it in that forum, and then people can check to see if they are available or not. Personally, I think this works better than a schedule for a few reasons. First being, not everyone checks a schedule. A quick scan of the forums will let you know if anyone has posted anything or not. Another is you can get a conditions report from the forums, where maybe the conditions arent good where you are planning on going, but then a discussion can begin on an alternate location.

If you have a destination in mind that you would like to see added, let us know and we will see about setting up a forum for it.

Welcome to the board.

I tried the calendar thing a while back and nobody used it. Used to have a lot of stuff nobody used which is why I went back to just the forum.

Session,

Just check "New Posts" a couple times a week. There is a lot of diving going on. You would be welcome to join in on most of it. I've already invited you once. This time of year you can just show up at Mermet Springs any Friday, Saturday, or Sunday and if a spare buddy is not hanging out the staff will find one for you!

Also, go to the Y-Kiki Divers web site, and check out the local Fun Diving schedule. We have an all-welcome fun dive at least every month. www.y-kiki.com

theskull makes an excellent point. I would not hesitate to go to Mermet, the staff or any big group there will instantly help you find a dive buddy. And, it will likely be self building. You will quickly build up a set of folks to start coordinating with.

As far as Calendar vs Destination posts, I have to suggest that we (as a community) try to be diligent about maintaining thread integrity. We often embed a new dive trip announcement and discussion within pre-existing thread. And, I am probably as guilty as anyone :o

Hi All, and thanks for the prompt replies. I'll check the location forums more regularly and plan ahead for weekend dives. Mermet Spring is a ways off, so I'll maybe try to make a weekend event out of it one of these days.

Thanks,
Session
