Ok, the new addition is in. We now have a map of dive sites. You can access it by clicking the "Dive Site Map" link at the top of the screen.

Instructions:

The "View" window allows you to customize what will appear on the map. Note that features, only appear at certain zoom levels.

The small map on the left is a reference to the current view. You can click on this map to reposition the current view.

The toolbar above the map contains the following tools:

Zoom In - Click to recenter and zoom in on a location or drag to select a box to zoom to
Zoom Out - Click to recenter and zoom out
Pan - click to recenter or drag to move the map
Query - Click on a Dive Site or water body to get information about it in the top pane or drag to get information about all sites and water body within the bounding box
Zoom to Entire Array - Zoom out to show the entire map
Printable Map - Pops up a window with the current view in a printable format
Please let me know if you find any bugs or have any suggestions for improvement, besides speed :). There is a lot of work going on to generate the maps on the fly and the only fix for that would be to get a faster server.

Any feedback on this? This is my first attempt at anything of the kind and, I'll admit the GIS world is a little foreign to me. Anyone see areas they would like improved? Colors, fonts, sizes, whatever?

You might want to check the position of the wreck of Rosinco on your chart. It shows up on your chart as being off of Sheboygan. In fact, it is just North of Kenosha. The exact location, from my own GPS, is N 42, 37.515; W 87, 37.651.

Thanks for the info Dale. I'll fix the location after the upgrade on Saturday (which will give me a chance to test to make sure the site database is still working properly after the upgrade.)

Does it work with Mozilla Firefox? I get the logo on the left and the loading graphic, that's it. Oh, and the little red "+" but it just moves around where I click, it doesn't load anything.

Don't you hate it when things just stop working?

Should be ok now.

I was just exploring the forum and some older threads and spotted this one, so I thought I'd post on it just for fun. I went to the map and found Sandy Channel in Nebraska, which is a fun little dive site, even though the depth is only 25 feet. There's a lot to find in this lake, including an underwater spaceship complete with a Martian under the glass dome.
