Ok - so we're planning a road trip in early June this summer. We want to visit some family in Nashville, some friends in South Carolina and figured we could maybe loop thru Florida. We'll be traveling with the clan - five divers (Dad, Mom, and three kids 17, 15, 13) along with a 10 year old wanna be diver. Does anyone have some suggestions? We figured we could swing thru Mermet going one way or the other but don't have a clue about some family type diving destinations in Florida. Thanks!

There is a nice quarry in Huntsville, AL if you decided to go there for the Space Center. (Rock Divers)
Most of the diving I know about is either in the south Ft. Lauderdale to the Keys (long drive) or cave diving (likely not relevant) or the Pensacola stuff like the Oriskany (again, maybe not relevant.)

we were just figuring out miles - nashville to key largo is just shy of 1000 miles. no big deal if the divings worth a couple hundred extra miles, but it sure would be nice to find some decent diving north of Ft. Lauderdale.

http://www.aviddivercharters.com/home.html Oliver does a very nice job. Could also check out http://fillexpress.com/boats.shtml for boats in the FLL area.

One of the best shore dives in Florida is just north of Ft Lauderdale near Lauderdale by the Sea. You just park by the public pier, and head in off the nice sandy beach.
