Hi everyone,

It's still cold and miserable here in NW Ohio. I hope to do lots of diving this year in the quarries near home (Gilboa, Portage, White Star). I am always in need of buddies to go with, as my wife doesn't dive so drop me a line if you want to go. I teach at a local technical college and have Fridays off most weeks.

Most of my diving experiece has been in warm water in the US Virgin Islands. My sister has lived in St Croix for 20 years and she introduced me to this wonderful sport. I got my certification there the following year and I constantly scheme new ways and reasons to visit her. I made 16 dives there in 10 days last June and had a ball.

I now have the gear I need to dive in the cold conditions around here. Gilboa is only about 45 minutes from home so I hope to get wet there lots this summer. Although I am "only" 48, I am having my right knee replaced due to a snow skiing accident 24 years ago and I hope to use diving as a reason to build myself back up after the surgery (April 13).

Looking forward to meeting and talking with all of you,
Bob Jacobs

Hi and Welcome to our part of the diving world. Isn't warm water diving great?? :) I am willing to dive anywhere/anytime under most conditions - cold and murky it will be here in the midwest most of the time. We are headed to St Lucia in July - gills can't wait that long.

Welcome to the board Bob. You'll find it a friendly place to visit.

Good luck with the knee replacement. My mom is 'only' 72 and just had hers replaced. It didn't look like a whole lot of fun. She goes back to work Monday morning after four weeks off....
