Bob, I'll be there tomorrow, but I'll be doing some work; I think we're going to sink a boat over on the deep side. Doubt if I have any time for a fun dive but I'll see you there if you make it. steve

didnt we meet last time we was down there when you guys was working on the platforms?

That excites me that there will be something to see at the deep end finally. What kind of boat? Just another ski boat, or something bigger? I guess a German U-Boat would be pushing it, huh?

Yes, I met you on a Sat several weeks ago. We talked for just a few minutes.

Yes, again, it's another ski boat. The first attempt at sinking it, two weeks ago, produced several problems which left it bobbing like a cork. Maybe it'll go down tomorrow. see ya steve

LOL, does that mean there has been a ski boat bobbing in Mermet for 2 weeks?

I can't Bob, I'm flying to Atl tomorrow for Easter.

Yep, just the bow is sticking out of the water. It's tied off to a tree on the far side to keep it from running away. The wind presented most of the problems; couldn't pull it with a jon boat/trolling motor against the wind.

Well, looks like I will have to spend the day at my LDS instead of diving. Oh well, theres always Bonne Terre on Saturday.

If you're not coming cause you don't have a buddy,,, come on,, we'll work out something to get you wet. You might have to work or watch me work but if you come we'll get in the water. I'm there by 9am and wheels up and out by 3pm (usually). I think we have five people coming to help with the sinking. It probably won't take that many, and Glen doesn't like a lot of extra divers floating around in the way. I might be doing something else. Come=Wet

iI appreciate the offer, but it is too late now. My tanks are still at the shop, and they dont open until 9. They are both due for a visual, so maybe I can get that taken care of tomorrow while I am there.

Sorry, I figured you would have been working all day. I would have like to have been one of the first ones to dive the new boat. Are you puting it down at 118 foot? Also, has the helicopter been put in yet? Or the motorcycle?

The helicopter is on top the 727. The motorcycle is in front of the bus on a platform. I'm not sure of the exact spot they are hoping to put the boat. I would guess somewhere near a wall.

Seems like the top of that 727 is startig to get a little crowded up there.

Uh, yeah.

Ski boat is down, on the deep side, unmarked, secret spot.

Isn't there an old GMC Truck to sink as well?

Yes, the pickup is pushed up to the water's edge getting rigged for a "dive". Should go in very soon. I think it's going to go near the new deep training platform which is just over the wall from the bus (bout 65').

New platform? I talked to Glen a few weeks ago, and he was saying something about bringing the 85 foot platform up. Is that what happened, or did you guys just install a new platform?

The 85' platform is still exactly the same. This is a different one; it had been in the same area laying on it's side. It is not suspended, just sitting on the bottom. Just out from bus, marked by bouy. It should be ideal for doing the deep dive for AOW students.

A guy from our dive club brought the truck down a couple of weeks ago. He had a funny story to tell about it. He told the story at our club meeting last night. We didn't know where the truck would get sunk. I will direct him to this board.

I might get a referral, I might get a referral, na na na na boo boo!

WELL, maybe you did, LOL, but you must have went deeper than any 66'.

It's laying nice and flat now; it stood stern up for a few days.

I dove my singles this morning. We checked out the rock crusher, and then guess what we found?

Hey, have you ever seen the truck bed out there in the middle a 118'? That's the only thing in the quarry I haven't seen. I made one attempt with a compass bering from map and missed it. Try it again one of these days.

I have made a few attempts at finding it, but havent seen it yet. I have heard there isnt much to it, but still would like to see it.

Get your doubles under control, and we'll go find that baby. I got a good compass bering, just missed it the first time. Pretty simple dive really, if you miss the truck, you'll find the west wall in a couple of minutes. BIG trees submurged along that wall.

DeepDiverBob

I am comfortable in the doubles, but I am going to wait for the dry suit. It isnt very warm down there. But we will find that thing. How far off the platform is it? Maybe we should tie a reel off to the platform and do a sweep if we miss the heading.

It's a long way from any platform. Best landmark closeby is one of the downlines on the compass course.

well then I definitly dont want to run a line at 115 feet that far.

Maybe theskull has seen it, and can give us a little direction.
