Today had an excellent dive in Cannonball with jclifton & terrapinken. As planned, we did a max depth of 174 ft. with a 74 minute run time, 900 ft. penetration. Visibility was a tremendous 50 ft. and water temp was 57 F.

Bonus attractions were a fresh water eel swimming around at 190 ft. and a huge catfish guarding the cave entrance (30 ft. deep in Lake Wapapello).

Tomorrow is the NSS-CDS Mini Workshop in Poplar Bluff, and then another Cannonball dive planned for Sunday.

Sounds awesome! I haven't seen a fresh water eel in approx. 13 years... Vortex Springs, Florida.

This one was HUGE! Maybe 8 ft. long. Well, adjusting for deep air narcosis, it may have been only 3 or 4 ft. long. :)

Today was the NSS-CDS MO MiniWorkshop. Lots of info and fellowship, with topics such as: Sump diving, Tennessee cave diving, Bahamas cave diving, Missouri cave conservation and water quality (presented by MO state officials), and the new GEM rebreather (presented by the inventor/manufacturer and the official training director). Also an update on NSS-CDS financial health, purpose, and current projects.

Tomorrow an early cave dive at Cannonball with Ken, and then home.

Finished off the weekend with an easy dive with terrapinken around the funnel circuit. 55 minutes, 52 ft. max depth, water temp and vis same as Friday. Tried doing some photography on this dive, but results weren't too hot. I think it's because it's real dark in the cave.

Come on, it is not that dark in a cave you can't do photo work. You just have to hold just right.

Good to see you all there this weekend. Sorry you did not get to do RBD with all of us but I know you saw the gang at CB today.

Had to get home and take care of a few things since I was gone since Tuesday at KC doinng stuff.

Learned a few things myslef also.

Forgot to mention the cool raffle prizes I collected at the conference: a DiveRite Primary reel, DiveRite LED backup light, MichaelAngelo artist proof, and a N Florida Springs Alliance t-shirt. Cool.

Anyone in the market for a primary reel or backup light? ;)

If it's the sidewinder 250' type, I might be interested.

It's the Classic w/ 400 ft. of #24 line. Handle can be changed to sideways mount, though.

Yes, 400 #24 (250 #36) but I have the old type. The only reason I haven't moved the handle is that the lock knob is under the switched handle. I keep thinking about trying to add a threaded hole to line up as a edge lock similar to the sidewinder, but just haven't done it yet.

Ed (dive4you82) answered as to when the next workshop is, and I do endorse him as a cave instructor.
Also endorse Slim (SLIM) as a cave instructor.

And cave training in MO rules! You get all the skills performed in cold-water gear, plus somewhat limited vis, and usually at least a somewhat challenging flow to deal with.
