Gateway Scuba goes against the trend - new dive center finds active and enthusiastic local market
Cherie St. Amant talks about the new dive center, Gateway Scuba, that recently opened near St. Louis, Missouri:
Charles and I opened our shop to bring the magic of the dive experience to new and experienced divers. We recognized there was an opportunity to be deliberately different by incorporating a few key philosophies into our business. For most people diving is recreation and a way to escape the daily routine, so we incorporate flexibility in scheduling classes. From Open Water Diver to Specialty Certifications our classes are conducted at the customer’s schedule.
Providing divers with a personal class schedule allows even the busiest people with an opportunity to enjoy recreation and learning. Many people have jobs requiring that they work evenings and weekends and our flexibility is an asset. We limit the size of our classes and while most dive shops charge for private instruction, we do not. In addition to class flexibility, we offer dive equipment at an affordable price. Our flagship brands, Zeagle and Tusa, offer price points that make owning your own equipment within means for any budget. This was an important decision for us and we were determined to find a way for people to enjoy the convenience and personal service of making their purchases at our shop, while being competitive with on-line sales. We wanted our philosophy of being inclusive to all levels of diver experience and interests to take in to account all budgets. Plus, our in-house service technician will help you care for your gear and provide a lifetime of enjoyment!
Diving is an exhilarating experience and you only have to be around a group of divers for a short time to know that it is one to be shared. Charles and I are an example of how the PADI philosophy of “Meet People, Go Places and Do Things” can change your life. We met while I was on a dive trip in Key Largo, Florida and from that day forward it seems our love of diving and the dive lifestyle would be best shared by opening Gateway Scuba. We are so grateful for all the people who have come by to see us and share their personal dive stories.
We are looking forward to sharing our love of the Florida Keys during our shop led trip in August to Key Largo. With our unique connection to the Florida Keys we intend to make this destination a regular part of our hosted trips. Sticking with our philosophy to be a different kind of dive shop we also work with a dive travel partner to schedule personalized dive trips. By offering this option our divers get excellent “group” and package pricing for singles, couples, and families along with great personal service!
We are located at 9936 Kennerly Road, St. Louis, MO 63128 across from St. Anthony’s Hospital in the Kennerly Center. For more information visit our website www.gatewayscuba.com (http://www.gatewayscuba.com/) or call us at 314-843-0354.
