Well I was down at the lake for a week and only got in 1 real dive.... I FINALLY got to meet SLIM. SLIM and I were supposed to hook up for a dive early in the week but got rained out. It just happened to be the nastiest day of the entire week (figures). The next day I jumped on the boat and headed over to the State Park Dive Shop to get a tank topped off and to say Hi to SLIM. I did a couple of shallow short solo dives off our dock to retrieve some items lost by my family and our neighbors over the holiday weekend. Then I had a buddy come down from Moberly Mo on Sat and we got one dive in out at Duck Island. Vis was pretty nasty until you got to about 30ft or so then it was actually pretty nice. We just did the perimiter of the island and called it quits after that. He brought his wife and daughter down with him to camp in the state park and they both went out on the boat with us. His daughter had never been on a boat before and so we did a little bit of driving around and sight seeing. She got a big kick out of watching people jump off the cliff at Breezy Point. We saw that Scuba Sports had a big group of divers up at the Zebulon Pike and the State Park shop was just getting out of the water when we were getting ready at Duck Island. Had to pack up and head home yesterday (sunday) man I wish I could be down there for another week. I just really enjoy that lake....

I know what you mean, Phil. We have always had a great time down there. This is the first year we have not been down for a week or two in about 7 years. The girls schedules and all. I did get down for a weekend (DUI) and spent some time with another friend. SLIM was working that weekend.

I, too, love Table Rock. I could retire there, if I ever get to retire.
Hey Phil, can we stay with you if the Table Rock Inn gets bulldozed and turned into condos now that it has been sold at auction?

Is the Table Rock Inn closed now? If so where is a comparable place to stay down there?
Tks,

It is not closed! The change of hands is due to take place around August 20, and as far as I know they will stay open.
But the last time one of my favorite haunts, Table Rock Lodge, changed hands it was quickly razed and replaced by condos.
Table Rock Inn has an excellent location and the lake is getting more and more crowded, a la Lake St. Louis, so the future looks upscale to me. Sadly.

The Parkview Lodge, practically next door, is not only open but getting upgrades and has very welcoming owners. Comparable price. No restaurant, though.

I think if the TRI closes, my days at TRL will be very numbered. I refuse to stay in down town Branson, an I havent had much luck at the Park View.

Some options
$50 to $400 - Tent at campground
$5k to $40k - Pop up / small trailer at campground
$50k to $400k - Houseboat at the marina
$500k to $5M - House with a view and a boat at the lake
There are a few places along Fall Creek Rd. area over at Taneycomo (e.g. Cooper Creek) that are not all the way into Branson, not bad access to the lake dam area. Prices are a little higher, but little cabins at Cooper Creek have kitchens/grills, so for a multiday trip, might be cost effective.
(1 bdrm $69/night)
No business affiliation, but we did stay there one time and enjoyed it. After dinner you can go to a launch ramp and play "who can keep their feet in the water the longest". Take a deck of cards or other entertainment, the 'feet' game doesn't last long ;-)
Hey SLIM - how about adding bunk house to your shop features :-)

Fall Creek Inn has been nice to divers and the is Parkview next to the Hitch N Post Gas station.
Or for the right price I got a couch, but that might cost more then a room.

I am all about the tents. I'm camping this weekend, as a matter of fact. Thank you for reminding me about that option.
