View Full Version : Belize or Curacao

I may be able to go to either Belize or Curacao in early 2010. I'm strongly leaning toward Belize, being an outdoorsy type and having the opportunity to visit the jungle on surface intervals. Any opinion either way? Resorts at the two locations are Ramon's in Belize (on Ambergris Caye) and Habitat Curacao.

I have never been to Curacao, but Bonaire was awesome.

Belize was very disappointing to me. I did the Peter Hughes live a board. I'm sure you'll have fun either place you go.

I've never been to Curacao but have been to Belize twice (Ambergris Caye (Ramon's Villlage) and Caye Caulker). The diving was good at both (not spectacular, but good).

I was at Ramon's about 10 years ago so I'm sure it's changed a bunch (they've had at least one hurricane hit since I've been there). Easy boat rides as the reef was about 1/4 mile out and you'd get to the reef via cuts. Top of the reef was about 60 feet as I recall with channels as deep as 140. Nice turtles and big grouper. Seafood on the island was tremendous and pretty cheap. Had a super DM at Ramon's (Toriano).

Thanks for the input! I've wanted to go to Curacao for quite a while, based both on rave reviews from some friends who've been there and from things I've read about it. However, I've also heard great things about the reef in Belize, and the jungle is calling to me. Wish I could do both trips (one's in January and the other's in February), but I'd best not get greedy.

Wow, Beth, that is so exciting!!! Belize is still on our list. We love Curacao, but I don't think you can go wrong with either destination. Keep us posted regarding which one you decide on!

I'm 99% decided on Belize. It's the first of the two trips and takes place in January. You and Lloyd should go, too!
