Well sicne I was unable to make my yearly visit to FL that I have done for the last 7 years. I did get some time to play in TBL. 2 other buddies of mine went to play.

I had to set up soem new gear for Andy, he got a new rig and some new regs. Went to Rogers boat and set it all up for him. THis was his first time he got to play with it all. He has been in doubles several times and always had to use baorrowed gear. Sent Roger to a Dive Shop that would treat him right for what he wanted to get his son since we do not carry the gear he was after.

Well, after I got it all set up we got our DS on and headed over to Poverty Point. The vis was not bad in the shallows but geting deep it just sucked. I would say that from surface to about 45-50 foot in depth we had 20 foot of vis but as we got deper it just got dark water and maybe 3-5 foot of vis. The water was clear, did not see any particulate in the water down there but it was just not clear. Dove down to 130 and vis was the same from about 45-50 on down.

The shallow water is nice and clear and all 3 of us noticed that the muscels are starting come back. We had a hard time near the end of the season as if they were all dying off from the long high water.
Coldest wqater we found was 48* and the warmest we had was 50*. Did a dive 35 minutes long, ANdy started to get cold in the hands, even with gloves on. Returned to the dock, broke our gear down and got out of our DS and had a few drinks (andy had soda) and called it a day.

From doing some small stuff at the marina I have noticed that the shallow water is clearing up. Need some more long cold spells to get the deeper water to get clear now. Just as we had some nice days to get int he water with Dec temps in the high 60's and then a nice storm moves through today and will mess it all up for a few days.

Oh wait, in just 10 days I leave for a a week of Cave Mapping and exploration project on Coz and then a week of fofo diving with the marina. Now you see why I couldnot make my yearly FL trip, had to save the money for the Exploration trip that I could not pass up, since I was invited and asked to help, I had to jump at this chance.

Thanks for the report...

Hopefully we will not get as much rain this year and can get the lake back to normal...

I will be interested to hear your report from Coz.

Hey SLIM...we miss you down here. It would be grand I am sure.
theskull and DeepDiverBob are showing me some nice diving, for sure. And I am meeting some folks and learning more about your infamy :-)

We did the Grand Traverse today from Orange. So, after getting fills and coming back and squaring away for tomorrow, we had a nip to celebrate.

You can go a long way (and time) with the depths and the nitrox :-)

Great top here bubba. Yup, my infamy is large down there. LOL

Did the mile run, well that is what us older divers call it. The new ones call it the grand travers.

With the great clear water at shallow depths is nice when using EANx.

Glad you all had a nip for me. Can't wait to hear all about it next month while haveing a few nips with you.
