A few of us are planning a mid winter get together for some diving and training over this 3 day weekend. I'll be working with Chris on his KISS ccr course, but several are coming for fun. Tom J is looking for a roommate let me know if anyone is interested. A few of my friends from TN are coming over for the weekend also.

Big tall but not quite as skinny as Captain Caveman. A different Chris, but you might think they were brothers, but they are not.

John and I are going ot do our check out dives for Trimix. Whats the water temp this time of year?

MgicTwnger
December 5th, 2008, 11:03 AM
Chris,

Here's a link to Mermet's site:
http://www.mermetsprings.com/conditions05.htm

The bottom temp is constant year round. I'm diving there tomorrow and let you know the latest.

DeepDiverBob
December 5th, 2008, 11:18 AM
If I recall correctly, surface temp was already in the 60s when I was there about 3 weeks ago, and as cold as its been lately, I imagine it has dropped even more. By the end of Jan, water temp is going to be pretty constant top to bottom. Max depth I have found there is 122 foot, so I dont know if the money on trimix is really needed for there, in my opinion. I have seen you on the Wisconsin, and you was just fine on air.

Bottom is consistently 42*. It might be a little warmer on the surface, but probably not that time of the year.

Chris meant he is wanting an in water review prior to the trimix course. So a "check out" to see how they have been progressing.

Is a further drive for you yall but TBL never frezzez. It can get to about 43-41* thought in the winter months. Right now it is 56* with about 15 foot of vis, cant sy much more. Been busy with working on a Wave Wall and get to do more work on it Wednesday and have not gotten deeper then 15 feet and average is 8 working on it in open water so cant give much help in better vis since I just mess things up when working on it.

As far as I know, Greg Such will be teaching and that is why they are opening early. I suppose you could be a punk and check with him or Glen.
Or risk driving there just to look at the snow.

Heard some areas have 3 inches of ice. However, I believe it has all cleared out of the area, and they have a few days to get those roads taken care of. I think it would all be good, but I'll double check and let you guys know.

I emailed Glen, and he responded right away. Of course his response was that he is currently sitting in the Miami airport, on his way to the Galapagos.

So I called Randy, and talked to him for a little bit. They had about 4 inches of ice, with snow on top of that. Highway 45 is down to 1 lane in spots, due to some downed trees. He expects this to be resolved very quickly, and as of right now, it is business as usual for the weekend.

Looking forward to seeing you guys this weekend. Except for Ken, who thinks paying bills is more important.

That explains why I couldn't get thru. But, I was jumping up every hour to keep my drive clear as the snow came down. Glad I did, we wound up with 8" at the house.

You realize you're complaining about 8" of snow to Wisconsin folk, right?

My wife's and my plans are up in the air at the moment. We had a death in the family this week, and just got back from the Funeral in Chicago. Might just come down on Saturday.
