I have not been to TRL as of yet. But I have a couple guys who have asked me to run some classes there, possible over the winter. What are conditions like in the winter time? Does it freeze over? Thanks.

Nope, no ice diving down here in the southern midwest. Conditions will vary with the weather, but you can expect water temps in the high 40s to low 50s. Visibility will also vary from 8 to 40 ft., depending on recent weather and lake turnover. Best to check conditions with SLIM within a week of when you plan to go to get definitive answers.

Branson is fairly deserted in the winter, which means hotel rooms are easy to get, traffic is very light, and the restaurants are happy to get the business. It also means that the Marina is probably closed and SCUBA Sports will have reduced hours, so fills are a little more difficult to get.

Also, no boat traffic to mention, so safety is easier.

Like BB stated, in teh winter temps will be in the low 40's but surface might be cooler. Vis can be awsome but will also depend on precip.

Let me know and I can keep you posted and might even come out for soem fun with you all.

Don't we all?!

Would love to accompany you if the timing is right, and possibly help with logistics and locations. I'm sure DDBob and SLIM would if available, too.

Lake doesnt freeze voer, but gear sure as hell does. Lesson learned, hasnt happened again since.

I could be up for a TRL trip. I havent been down there since APril, when the dam was about to over flow.
