I'm having trouble finding a 1/2 AA 3.0 Volt battery for my Suunto transmitter. I can find 3.6 volts in several places but not the 3.0 volt, not even at Radio Shack.....does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

There's one of them about 45 miles away - I'll have to stop in the next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Thanks -

How often do you have to change your batteries? Do you get a warning before they go dead? I most certainly didn't - it was a good thing it didn't happen at the beginning of the day.

I use the 1/2AA 3.6v in my old wrist mount comptuers. I usually get very little warning before they die, so I just run them till they quit. However, if I'm doing any kind of aggressive diving, I wear two identical computers (they've never both died at the same time).

I don't use a transmitter.

I don't get any warning before the transmitter dies . . . but I always have an SPG, so it would not be an issue; the transmitter is just a nice convenience.

I have owned my SUUNTO VYTEC for about 6 years, and have only had to replace the transmitter battery once, about 2 years ago. And it gets a lot of use!

I have replaced the computer batteries twice in that time, but the computer gives lots of warning regarding battery level before it shuts down.

There's no warning when the Suunto transmitter batteries are getting low but they also last longer than the wrist unit. I've had good results changing both whenever it's time to replace the one in the wrist unit.

A word of warning - be really careful changing the transmitter battery. The only indication you'll get that you didn't get a good seal comes too late to be of any use: the unit won't work and you'll find water inside it.

I'm a bit nervous about it sealing up myself - I sure don't look forward to buying a new one, that's for sure.
