Can anyone describe for me a mesh fish bag, the type spearfishermen use? I'd ask my spearfishing dive buddy, but he's diving in Mexico right now and I'm stuck at work. Are there bags you carry with you and bags that attach to your gear? Are they soft or coated with something so they don't "mar" the fish? I ask that last question because someone asked me this morning. Don't know why it would matter if you're going to eat the fish anyway, but my questioner is an avid float tube fly fisherman, and I'm guessing maybe he's looking for a better method than a traditional fishing dip net.

I may not be following along. There are "Goody" bags that are mesh that we clip off to BC or harness. Most of what I have seen for spear fishing is a BIG stainless steel 'safety pin' that is basically a version of a gill stringer. You can clip the stringer off and then as you collect fish, you open the safety pin, slide the fish on and reclose the pin. Repeat as necessary.
