My first trip to Norfork, so I have nothing to compare it to as far as a previous experience. We went to a few marinas to see what people would recommend, but they was all hard to get to due to the flooding going on. We finally settled on a wall dive by one of the marinas we could actually get to. (I forgot the name of this one.) It was nice, because there was a table barely underwater, which helped with gearing up. I havent dove a stage bottle in a while, so I brought one along with me, just for the practice. Didnt do a gas switch though. We dropped down the wall to about 130 foot, and vis was maybe 8-10 foot at best. It looked like it wanted to clear up around 30 foot, but it quickly went to crap again. While gearing up for this dive, Terrapinken hurt his back, so that slowed us down a little bit. Plus we both had gear alterations to make. I finally convinced him to ditch OMS and go DiveRite. I had a broken power inflater that I had to replace. When we ended the dive, there was some pretty close thunder, so we headed back to to find someplace for dinner. We decided to go for a second dive, so we went down to the dam, and did an entry on the boat ramp. Due to a bad compass heading, we never did find a wall, and his OMS real jammed up pretty bad. I knew we was getting close to entering the restricted area, so I called the dive, and we exited the water. It poured pretty good Saturday night, so we sat around the room sipping dark rum and whatever carbonated beverage we had. We knew with the rain, the vis would still suck on Sunday, plus his back was still bugging him, so we slept in a little SUnday morning, and by 10, was on our way back home.
Not a very exciting trip report, and the diving was less than exciting, but it sure beats not diving.
