DUI DOG Days comes to Haigh Quarry again this year on June 7-8.

My best buddy and I will be participating as volunteers. I hope to see and meet some of you there! Perhaps you'll notice us as the guy and gal wearing brand new Y-Kiki Divers Staff T-shirts.

Come try out a drysuit for your first time, try a DUI suit for your first time, or just have a great time diving and receiving some top-notch diving tips along with cheap food and diving.

That is going to be a very nice look. Should be a good time with good friends, just what diving is suppose to be about.

Anybody else plan on coming out?

I'll be there. But I'll be teaching an OW class iin the mornings and an AOW in the afternoons. So I won't be able to help out again this year. Should be fun.

If you get time, make sure you stop by and say hi. Always good to put a face with a name from the boards. Well, this board anyway.

James and I will be there Saturday, but not doing the DUI stuff. Just in our ratty old suits.

The more the merrier. And that's 2 less folks for us to size up and dress -- maybe it'll give us time for an additional fun dive!

Well, we had a fabulous time at Haigh this weekend, with visibility that ranged from 10 ft. where the "rototillers" were diving heavily to 30 ft. in the less travelled areas of the quarry! Along with the great vis we had mild water temps of 60 F at the surface, 50 F at most depths, and 42 F only when we descended into the 80 ft. deep hole.

The DOG Days event was well attended but certainly not crowded at any time. Everyone got to dive the suit they wanted to try, and the free food was tasty. Also, a high success rate on getting prizes from the drawing because about half the participants fled during the brief storm that came down right before the free dinner.

It was a great time indeed, even when the tornado sirens was going off before dinner on Saturday.

I hadnt seen Ken and James in a while, and it was good to catch up with them. Although James did mention he was fun diving with Ken that weekend, I had to question if it was possible to do both.

It was great to meet so many people from the other shops as well. It was good to see Carl from Great American Dive Co, and although I had known who Steve was for a few years, this weekend was the first time I had a chance to talk to him, and that was nice as well. And Scuba Emporium was all over the place up there. Wow. Seemed like for every 10 people that came through the line, 11 of them was from SE. That shop should be proud of their turnout.

And I have to say something I never thought I would: with his "new look" Bob is looking good. For Bob.

do they limit the depth of the dives at Haigh? I was at a DOG day a couple years back and they kept us about 40' which was barely below the thermocline. They are to be at Wazee in a couple weeks.

Thanks!

Participants who are not dry suit certified must dive with a guide. And the smart guides will keep their inexperienced dry divers at depths of 40 ft. or less, both to minimize the damage from buoyancy "events", and to make it easier on themselves since they are making repetitive dives.

Those certified to dive a drysuit can just check one out, grab a buddy, and go to whatever depth they feel is prudent.
