I'll be heading down to Oronogo this weekend for some fun dives with the ***** Fun-Dive Club.

Anyone who wants to join in is welcome.

Will post conditions and trip report when we return.

are they still charging extra to dive doubles there?

They don't charge extra to dive doubles if diving within NDL and rec depths, which is exactly what I plan to do this weekend.

To dive deep or do deco, they do charge extra -- and require DAN Preferred insurance.

I wish that I wasn't working this weekend. Dammit! Makes me wonder if I can get coverage for Sunday.

The vis was down quite a lot last weekend, around 10' until you got deeper. Then it was 5' and under. Has been like that since New Years Day. Hopefully it improves soon.

We had a fabulous time this weekend at Oronogo, and the best vis I've enjoyed all year. Up to 20 ft. vis in the deep water, and 10 to 15 ft. vis between depths of 20 and 75 ft.

Also, water temp was a friendly 48 F at all depths below 15 ft.

Put that together with fantastic weather, great dive buddies, and the always-excellent food choices in Joplin, and we were happy divers!!

That is great to hear. Oronogo is just a 3 hr drive for us. I had heard last Fall the vis was really poor. Glad to hear it is better. Going to have to take a road trip. Jerred just picked up his Dive Rite BP/W. He is itching to try it out. What is your favorite resturant in Joplin?

Many restaurants in Joplin I like.

Favorite is JimBob's.
Also like Red, Hot, and Blue
Timberline
Others, too, but don't recall the names.

Glad that the vis is improving, and you all had a great time. I will be down there this weekend, and possibly the weekend after. Wish I could have made it down, but I was working 16 hour shifts. :(

Maybe I can catch you all next time.

Hey Wolf-boy,

How about mentioning a couple of your favorite Joplin restaurants for Nauifins?

I do hope you can join us next time. We made some beautiful deep dives!

Hmm. My favorite is Red Lobster, Ryan's is good too. I also like Red, Hot, and Blue. Pizza by Stout.

I made a deep dive there on the tenth of this month. Vis sucked, but I got to see the speed boat for a split second!! Bottomed out at 146, but didn't stay long. Was still a nice dive.

You guys do the 4 Doors cavern while you were there?

Yes, we did the 4 Doors twice, but the vis was only about 8 ft. in that area, so we did not swim in very far.

Also spotted the entrance to the Hook Tunnel at 120 ft., but I was not with a cave buddy and had to sigh and pass it by.

I give Stout Pizza my endorsement as well.

Saturday we are planning a return trip to the speed boat, and will probably do one trip back to the Lincoln Divers sign. I have heard that the vis is better on the North side, but I have not done a lot of diving over there yet. I hope to remedy that soon.

Let me know when you are going to be down again, and if it is my weekend to work I will schedule some vacation.
