I am on a quest for information. I was approached through my dive club website about assisting with a Boy Scout/PADI program at Haigh Quarry later in the summer. The program basically is equivalent to Module 1 with skills being partial mask flood, reg recovery, hand signals, etc. I just found out they conduct this at Haigh, with NO pool.
Personally, I do not consider Haigh to possess "pool-like visibility". At least not for long in the shallow areas.
Does anyone have experience with using Haigh's "pool-like visibility" in lieu of a pool?

I use Haigh for confined water. I have seen many pools where the viz is better at Haigh. Confined water just doesn't only have to be at the 10' platform. I also use the road for water deep enough to stand in. I've seen pretty good viz there too.

I have participated in "confined water" activities at Table Rock Lake, Mermet Springs, and Quail Run Quarry. The conditions are very controlled in terms of depth, waves, entry/exit, etc., and I have also been in a few pools where viz was only a couple feet.
--BUT-- should a "Julie" be working with Boy Scouts? That's a more troubling question if ya ask me. Especially if you ask me while I'm in the mood to cause a bit of trouble. ;)

excellent question
I almost took a shot at a local CD, but figured I would let this one go. I have to learn to play well with others some times.
Except for Pratt.
