What can be told of this wreck? Are there any other good tec wrecks in lower Lake Michigan?

There is some good info on the link below. It is a small boat and has been having impressive vis of the last few years. Inside it is very restrictive and silty. Most guys just tour the outside. The Chicago basin is shallow. The farther north you go the easy the access is to deeper wrecks.

I think the best technical wrecks start north of Chicago. The Rosinco, the Grace Channon, the Walter B Allen, the Vernon, and there's probably a few more that I missed.

I haven't been on the Rosinco yet, but it's on my list.

Let me know when you're diving around here.

How late into the summer, early fall do the charters run to these wrecks?

The wrecks out of Milwaukee were mostly done by Bill Prince and the Nordic Diver which is not operating at this time. The LenDer does recreational dives. Check with Capt Dale, I think some of them might be out of range for him, though. Your best bet would be to talk to divbum, he might be able to charter through October.

We can do the Rosinco out of Waukegan any time. There is a new wreck off of Chicago in about 240 ft that we can do from Waukegan as well. We will be in Milwaukee on Labor day weekend and we plan to stay on for two more weeks, so we can do the deeper Milwaukee area wrecks during that time.

What is the new wreck off of Chicago? I didn't think that part of the lake gets that deep??

It gets deep if you go out far enough. This one is about 14 miles off shore. We have not yet identified her.

What is standard protocol on something like this? Keep diving her until she is identified, or research that area for missing ships, or combination of both? I am assuming at 240, there are only a handful of boats that would go there. That would awesome to be in on.

When would you be able to charter this dive? It does sound like a very interesting dive. Do it easy and ppo2_diver are you guys up for this?

Wait, is this the barge we're talking about? Last year I dove off a co-workers boat a few times. There was a barge in about 230. We left out of Waukegan. I think I still have the numbers laying around somewhere.
