I went to the local PADI forum yesterday.

They covered the new Rescue course, as well as letting us know a couple of new things coming down the pipe. One of the more interesting ones is a Discover Enriched Air diving. This appears to be about half of the standard EAN class and allows you to dive 32% with a MOD and using air tables/computer.

Might be a good draw for resort areas.

Also appears they are going to completely revamp the DM program. (Better hurry Bob ;) ).

Actually, the Discover Enriched Air Diving has been around since 2003. What was discussed at the Member Forum was the fact that students will be able to complete the knowledge development portion of it over the web rather than via book/video or CD-rom/DVD.

All I have left is my map, and I am heading to Table Rock this weekend to hopefully knock that bad boy out.

That's interesting. I have seen many "Discover Nitrox" performed, but they were always ad-hoc, sold and done literally on the boat, on the way to the site, no books just a short breifing and here's a tank. I had just assumed that since I had seen PADI shops do this that there was no "official" program... That's what I get for assuming.

Mike is puting the final touches on it as wek speak, er...type. I will see a version of it tomorrow night. Hopefully it will be ready for presentation and I can get signed off.
