Do you do this course with your local dive shop, like we did our OW cert.? And will I only learn about the freshwater fish in my area? Or will it cover the salt water fish as well?

The PADI site doesnt really go into much detail about it.

Saltwater Carribean/FL/Bahamas
get the Humann/DeLoach Reef Fish book

My favorite instructor gave a copy of this to my daughters and it has been very valuable. If you go on a trip with your shop or experienced divers, go thru and let them sticky tab the likely fish you'll encounter...then you are on your way to having an "icky" time in the water.

I am all about supporting my LDS with classses, but there are a few exceptions. Fish ID is one of those that is best to do on vacation. I did an Underwater Naturalist class in Honduras, and that was probably the most informational classes I have ever done.

He also has a book for the South Pacific that I bought before my Australia trip. It was excellent too.

Thats a ton of neoprene!! I hope he had to pay extra casue thats 4X as much as a normal dive suit!
