Anybody know the conditions of CB. I'm hoping to dive it this weekend - any predictions on conditions for Sat & Sun?
Thanks

I haven't been over there in about three weeks, but conditions were very good. Monthly rainfall data suggests they have, pretty well, missed most the rains. I would guess conditions would be very good.
Please follow-up and post conditions if you go. thanks.

Just had a report given to me about CB. 0-50 vis and flow was still down. Just stay away fromt he big catgfish that is hanging around the arches. If you disturb him, he will kick up a large silt cloud (both as and after he runs into the side of the walls).

Thanks for the update. I'll be sure to watch out for Mr. Catfish. You mentioned 0 - 50 on vis, is the zero in reference to the catfish or are there really sections that are at zero vis?
Thanks again.

Opps. should have been 40-50 in vis. But from what I hear if you do distrube Mr. Catfish you wil l have 0. Somthing about swimming under the arches and looking up and then noticing it got cloudy and then seeing him.

Thanks for all the replies. I hate to drive 4 hrs just to find out conditions are bad.
It's been a year since I was at CB last and at that time I was with a friend who knew how to find the opening easily by looking at some point across the lake and sort triangulating, then crawling on the bottom in that direction until we "fell off" in front of the opening.
Anyone got a better method of finding the opening? Especially when hauling stage and deco bottles and a scooter?

It is very easy to find. You just have to think of what you are looking at on the shore and the distance you are out from the bank and line up and then drop down. You either get to 10 feet or you will keep going and then feel the cool water and be able to get your bearings. I have always found that just to let 1 person drop down and tie the flag to the bucket then go and start hauling the gear on in.

Just got back from diving CB. Vis is still 40+ and basically no flow. We only dove the upper portion and side tunnels. Didn't see the big catfish, although there is a large one now laying dead and decaying - maybe the big fellar finally bit it?
I'm gonna start hiring a sherpa to haul equipment up & down that hill. Whew! I'm in good shape, but that's a killer, especially with any extra equipment. Stairs are a good addition though - lots of thanks to all you who put those in. Oh yeah, and major thanks for the rest stop half way up!

Wed. 3 Oct. Vis is down to only about 20'. Flowing a bit more than the last time I was there, but still light at the entrance, water temp 58*. Lake is 78* with a few inches of vis.
