So yesterday I went out with Cpt. Dale and Reefraf to the SS Wisconsin, our plain was to 120-130ft for 15min and to do a 1min deco at 30ft and 6 min at 20ft on 28mix.

Well this was the plain but I will admit I get sea sick, most of the time I get sick in my stumic and thats all, but yesterday I was so sick I was throwing up all over the place on our way out. POOR ENTERPRISE. So we suit up ( I was still sick) we droped down to 126ft to the cars, as we entered I felt the urge to throw up and I did in side the wreck and at 126ft down. I used my light to stop reefraf from going any futher. I aborted the penitration to get my self feeling better. We continued the dive to the main deck at 85ft and did some penitration on the deck to a lower level of 95ft. At this time our run time was 11min. So we went back to the car hold and did our penitration back to the cars. On our way out our run time was 15min. So up we went on the line and did our deco. This was the first time I've seen my Geckko go into Deco (very kool).
Well back on the boat it all started again. I still had 2000psi in my doubles but there was no way I was feeling like going again. I sat on the deck and waited to for us to go to dry stable land.

Just wanted to say to everyone Thank you for helping me out unload my gear. Now its time to go to the Doctors and get some real motion sick pills.

Sorry to hear that you felt ill, but at least you were in good hands.

I take the less drowsy dramamine, which is actually meclizine (no Ken, not mescaline!). I usually take half a pill the night before and a full dose the morning of the dive. If I'm doing multiple days of diving, then I just continue them in the morning.

I have noticed that it will distort vision at depth, so be careful of the side effects. If I turned my head slowly, it looked the like underwater world was wrapped on a curved surface.

I heat to hear that - nothing is more miserable than motion/sea sickness. Check with your Doctor about the patches. Right now I can't think if their exact name. You put them behind your ear and the are good for 3 days. I have had them wash off on a dive so I put another one on the other ear on a longer trip. I put mine on the day before a trip to get the Rx into my system.

Was it just a bad day, or was the lake a rough one that day?

Don't feel too bad, Chris. It happens to everyone sooner or later.

What Becky is talking about is scopolamine. I have been around boats all my life, and it is the only sure-fire cure for my jumpy stomach. You need a prescription to get it. I started using it after redecorating the Len-Der with my breakfast.

Becky...try washing and drying the area where you put the patch just before applying it, mine seem to stay on a lot better that way. And be careful donning and removing your hood.

Yeah, right. You were actually at home sitting on your sofa.

Sounds like a very cool dive. Too bad you had to miss the second of the day.

Speaking of sitting on the sofa, shouldn't you be at Haigh? :D

ya the lake was about 1-2 footers at the start but by mid day I would say 3 mybe 4's at times.

I was there yesterday. It was a beautiful day for diving with some good folks, and my neck seal came out OK. However, the viz was lousy.

It wasn't a particularly bad day out on the lake - Neptune just got his icy fingers wrapped around Chris and wouldn't let go. He was about as sick as you can get, whatever the wave action. I felt bad for him but there isn't much that can be done other than try to find a place to curl up and go to sleep.

Scopalamine is a wonder-drug for seasick. The patch works well but it can be hard to use: you have to apply it the night before, you have to be careful handling it and adjusting the dose is not easy. The same drug comes in a pill form (called Scopace (http://www.motionsickness.net/)) that is a vast improvement over the patch - take it when you start to feel a little queasy and it kicks in within 20 minutes, no need to fool with the patch and worry about getting the drug on your hands or in your eyes, plus you can take one pill or two, depending upon how bad you think you're going to feel. You'll still need a prescription but it's the best thing I've found.

Yesterday's dive was excellent, despite the occasional reductions in visibility. ;) Most of the time we had 60 - 70' feet of clear water with just enough current to flush the chum away and the burbots were following us around like love-sick puppies, waiting for another treat from Chris. The wreck continues her slow collapse and it's getting a little nervous going deep inside her. Kinda chilly, though - my computer registered 36 on the bottom, about as nippy as it gets this time of year.

If you had a DUI with zip seals, that wouldnt have been a problem. :D

In front of or behind you?:p

I guess I am just blessed with a cast iron stomach...lol I actually enjoy getting bashed around on a small boat or a small plane, or rough roads in an old pickup truck.

Funny story... We were at Lake Stockton with some friends on a rental pontoon when this 40-50 cabin cruiser went by at speed about 500 yards away. I saw the wake coming, but my sister-in-law and her bf didn't. They were sitting near the bow with their back turned towards the cruiser. This guys wake was big enough to make our prop break surface and bury the bow underwater while thoroughly soaking my sister-in-law and her bf. It was great =)

Okay.. perhaps this is a silly question.. but how do you get sick 126' down without sucking a couple of lungs full of water?

One of the 1st rules of diving don't take the regulator out of your mouth - get sick into it

That's the time to share your buddy's air. You'll find out who your real buddie's are.
I've got to remember that the next time I dive with Bob.

Funny how the "share air" signal looks a lot like the "I gotta puke, let me borrow your reg" signal :D
