Had a great time down at the demo days this past Sunday. Lots of gear hanging around that you could try out. They also had the Optima you could demo for 25 bucks. That seemed to be pretty popular as well. Lamar Hires was very pleasant to talk to, and learn from. I was expecting to see a better turn out however. Of course, I wasnt there on Saturday, so I dont know what it was like then. I think what surprised me most was there didnt seem to be any shops that are Dive Rite dealers down there pushing their product, with the exception of Ozark Dive Company. This is the first year for the tech tour, so I am sure they will work out the bugs and it will get better from year to year. It was still a good time, and I look forward to doing it again.

Were people made aware that Glen is a DiveRite dealer?

The reason why there was so little support (IMO) is because most dealers (Ed excluded) don't support the Tec community in this area because the market is so small. Thay talk the talk, but rarely do any Technical or Cave diving. My shop is a great example of that except we do not promote that kind of diving because we are not experts in it. There are some of us on staff who enjoy it and we hope to expand into that when the time is right. We were not there because we are not Dive Rite dealers. Ken

I am not sure if Glen is full blown Dive Rite yet. He can order it, but I know he hasnt gone full throttle with it yet, until he is able to learn the product better. I cant blame him for that. I am only speaking my opinion on this, not speaking for him.

So true, it was a great time DDB. Got to learn some stuf and even make some recomendations that were noted and even had some of the ideas jotted down for his memory.

Think Lamar was just as amazed at what is out there and how things are done and what is needed for other places.

. . . I think what surprised me most was there didnt seem to be any shops that are Dive Rite dealers down there pushing their product, with the exception of Ozark Dive Company . . .

I, too, was surprised that my shop was not promoting it--in fact, I don't think they were even aware of it until I pointed out that it conflicted with our Fun-dive Club trip to PennyRoyal. We are DiveRite dealers, and semi-tec oriented, so I don't understand. Perhaps DiveRite didn't do a good job of selling their dealers on it?
