I'm headed up to Lake Superiors north shore this weekend to start my AOW dives. We'll be diving the Madeira on Saturday with the LDS...I'll try to bring back some pics of the site.

We arrived at the dive site at about 12:30 to see a zodiac leaving. We had the wreck to ourselves for the rest of the afternoon.

We dove the wreck from the shore - it was a couple hundred yard swim to the buoy. Not a bad swim for us but the waves can get pretty bad I'm told. Surface water temp was 55 degrees and we saw 39 degrees at depth - 99 feet for the first dive, our deepest so far. One of the divers with us had troubles with his weight belt and surfaced, one of the others froze his primary and had to surface. Luckly we were able to complete the dive. It was the first time I had an opportunity to use the deep stop feature of my Vytec. I thought the deep stop was in addition to the safety stop at 15 but the computer didn't call for it. Denise's Cobra did though and I didn't think it was a bad idea anyway.

Dive two was to the bow of the ship. A couple of us were able to get up inside the bow with the instructor which was pretty cool. This dive bottomed out at 49 feet and 45 degrees.

Vizability was in the 45-50 foot range - the best I have experienced since we dove Crystal river a few years ago.

Here's some pic's - one of them is of the frozen first stage.
