Arrived @ Ozark Isle campground Thurs the 14 about 10am. Took me about 3 hrs to set up camp (never used a third of the stuff I packed). Put the toon in the water & was going to do a quick shore dive but the rest of the group showed up so I ended up helping them set up the main camp site. Finally got in the water about 5pm, a quick shore dive in front of the camp site.
Fri, opening day for spearfishing. About 15 of the group made it in by morning. 4 divers went out on the "toon" with me. Had a decent morning, several Catfish shot (5 over 10lbs) & a couple Walleye (one 4 1/2 lbs)
Made 2 to 3 trips on the "toon" each day. Used 2 to 2 1/2 tanks each day. The Catfish were shallow (2' to 6') in the rocks. Walleye were 24' to 30' around the thermocline & around brush piles. Vis was really bad around the brush piles.
Enough fish were shot by Sat night that we had the annual fish fry, about 25 people showed up & we had fish left over.
Monday morning one guy came in with a 38 1/12 lb Blue Catfish, that thing was a PIG!
Weather was decent, only one rainy afternoon.
All in All, had a great time & I'm already looking forward to next year.
