wow, what a weekend. Plenty of deep dives for 1 weekend, thats for sure.

The weekend started off with me cleaning the deep platforms for Glen. 100 and 85 foot platforms were nice and shiney for the classes this weekend. Okay, maybe not shiney, but they looked good.

Saturday, I kicked off the day with a nice, deep ever so slight deco dive with theskull. we dropped down off of the 100 foot platform, to the bottom, and swam out to the rock crusher, and came back slowly making out way up along the wall. Great dive. Vis at depth I would say was 25 foot, temp the constant 42 degrees.

Next dive was with Ken. Again, we went out to play on bottom of Mermet, checking out the inner wall. Very fun dive.

Dive Number 3 was with Ken and new board member ScubaPete. I took him and his buddy to the 100 foot platform. First time for them to see triple digits, so that was pretty cool for them. even Petes crash into the platform was very entertaining.

Dive number 4, well, dont remember exactly that we did, but I know it was deep again. Yes I do, it was a deep dive with one of my shops instructors, and 1 student .So me and Ken tagged along. Because we had a student, we did a surface swim out to the rock crusher, and dropped down on it, and then followed the wall back. Found 121 foot on that dive.

I dont remember what we did for dive number 5, but I know it was deep. At this point, I realized I had been going deep quite a bit, and started using my 40% and 100% mix for safety stops, and extended them, just to be safe.

Dive 6 this morning was another dive with theskull, scuba sally and another guy whom I admit I ust forgot his name. This was another attempt
to see the rock crusher, but be cause we had 2 single tank divers with us, and one of them on air, wecame up the wall a little early, but a great dive non the less.

Dive number 7 was a minor search dive. There was no recovery, because we was unable to find the missing slate from the class. But me and ken tooled around the inner wall again, and back to the main dock, where Ken tried to launch is lift bag. I wish we had better vis at 15 foot, because I wanted to see what exactly ken did, because it had to be comical. After he bounced down to about 30 feet a few times, I finally saw a lift bag barely make it to the surface. Then it went back down again. Shortly there after, I saw it once again going to the surface, this time with Ken going with it, all tangled in the line. I saw he was moving quite fast, and I knew he was doing to breech. The DM in me came out, and I dumped all my air, and grabbed ahold of him to try and slow him down. I dont know at what depth he started, but at about 10 foot, I had to let him go. FROM WHAT Glen said, he probably could have beached himself on the dock if he was a little closer to it. Kind of comical to talk about, after the fact. But definitly a learning experience for all.

Great weekend, great dives with great friends. (And Ken)

I had fun too. More lift bag drills next time around.

Good diving with you as always, Bob. The 4th diver this morning was Tony, one of the new Asst. Instructors from Great American, who came down to fun-dive for the day. Since I was also helping with an OW class, I spent far too much time this weekend wearing a single tank myself, though you gots to pay your dues somehow.

Wish I could have seen the liftbag attempt, Ken. Could have been even better if you had been inflating the bag with a high helium mix. ;)

Good weekend of diving with good food in addition to good friends.

It was a great weekend of diving. I learned a few things this weekend.
1) Bannana Hammocks look just as bad on americans as they do on Russians apparently.
2) 3 mm gloves do not keep the hands warm when the water is 44 degrees
3) Everything does in fact work better when the tank is facing the correct direction
4) You shouldn't wait until 90 feet to start putting air in your bc when you want to stop at 100 ft (unless there's a platform conveniently placed under you)

Thanks again for taking us down on the deep dive Bob, I felt a lot more comfortable doing it knowing that we were with a few people that do that regularly. I know that everything compresses the deeper you go, and you become less bouyant. Seeing it first hand is entirely different thing. By the time I realized i was going to fast, I decided I was better making a graceful stop on the platform than blasting air into my bc to stop me descent. I didn't want to cork myself from 100 ft, and I knew I had a hard target that would keep me from going deeper. Next time, I start inflating much sooner.

For all the trouble I like to give people, I am always willing to give a helping hand, and help people out. I really enjoy watching people get the same enjoyment out of this hobby as I do.
